The reaction of famous actor cum film maker, Saidi Balogun, fondly referred to as James Bond, on his alleged marriage to Oba Saheed Elegusi’s cousin, Funke Tayo Sofowora is neither here nor there when ENCOMIUM Weekly got across to him on Monday, June 1, 2015.
Walata, as Balogun is also known, maintained his stance on the story when it broke sometime in July 2013. He insisted on not commenting on any issue that has to do with his relationship be it former, present or future.
“I have also told you that I don’t talk on such issues. And I have not changed my stance on it. I have no comment on anything of such, whether it’s past, present or even future. What’s more important to me right now is that I have moved on with my career. Every other thing is secondary.”
Meanwhile, the rumour mill is agog that the fair-skinned thespian whose marriage to fellow actor, packed up irreconcilably a couple of years back, has settled down with new love of his life, Funke, a chartered accountant who is also said to be very comfortable with the popular entertainer.
They were reportedly spotted at an event in Lagos recently where Funke was reported to have confirmed the relationship, despite Balogun’s evasive statement.
The story of Balogun’s dalliance with Funke broke in July 2013, when they were said to have done a family introduction secretly, allegedly on account of the fact that the Ibadan, Oyo born theatre practitioner had not properly divorced his estranged wife, Fathia.
But when ENCOMIUM Weekly contacted Balogun again, he refused to make a categorical statement on the issue. He insisted he has moved on with his career.
