Saidi Balogun’s 50th birthday grand finale rocks Lagos

It was a fulfilling and exciting moment for Nollywood icon, Saudi Balogun, better addressed as James Bond, on Friday, July 7, 2017, as he staged the grand finale of his 50th birthday in a very classy and colourful way.

The one-in-town event which held at Grandeur Event Centre, Oregun, Lagos, was really a gathering of who is who, especially in the entertainment industry.
The all white glamorous shindig paraded famous actors and some industry stakeholders, including Chief Jimoh Aliu, Mayor Gbenga Adewusi(Bayowa), Abbey Lanre, Kaka, Mr Latin, Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola, Murphy Afolabi, Mercy Aigbe, Foluke Daramola-Salako, Iyabo Ojo, Patrick Doyke, Segun Ogungbe, Monsuru Ijayegbemi, Tijani Kolade (Kamilu Compo), Bukky Lawal, Kemi Afolabi, Isolak, Gloria Young, Larry Owojori, Funke Etti, Titi Oshinowo, Lola Sotayo, Sola Kosoko, Bosun Omo Yankee, Adewale Elesho, Otolo, Eniola Olaniyan, Kola Olaiya, Paragon, Kenneth Williams, Biodun Okeowo and Kunle Adegbite.
Other dignitaries at the occasion were Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Zone 2, CSP Dolapo Badmos, Chief Akinade Fijabi, Hon Olulade, Hon Adeyemi (Oyo House of  Assembly Speaker), Dr Joe Okei Odumakin, Kayode Salako,  Sound Sultan, Omo Baba, Kayode Sodiq and others.
The birthday boy, clad in  a white agbada with a cap to match danced excitedly with his family, friends and colleagues to the melodious lyrics of Fuji king, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better addressed as K1 De Ultimate, who was on the band stand throughout the event.
However, contrary to expectations, Saudi Balovun’s ex-wife, Fathia, was conspicuously absent again. The reason for shunning the event is yet unknown. But an industry source who spoke to encomium.ng disclosed that it was a last minute decision by the popular actress not to attend the event as earlier pledged.
“If somebody had told me Fathia won’t be here today, I would have asked the person to shut up. But now, I am disappointed. I think she should have honoured Saidi at his 50th birthday being a mile stone age. That’s not fair enough. Although, I learnt she was fully prepared for the event ahead today, she only changed her decision few hours to the event on reasons best known to her.”
When chatting with the celebrant, he expressed gratitude to God and those that stood by him from the beginning to the end of the  four-day celebrations.
“First, I am very grateful to Almighty God for being with me till date. Also, those that have been with me since the planning stage to the execution stage. I am deeply grateful to God for the success of the event.
“The event was used to appreciate God because of all that I have passed through before now. If not God, there wouldn’t have been Saidi Balogun today. I will forever be grateful to him. I also thank those that honoured me at the event. I pray God will continue to be with them all.”
Saudi Balogun, also known as Walata, turned 50 on February 5, 2017. He initially scheduled the celebrations for May 26, but was postponed in honour of the three industry giants that passed on successively – Olumide Bakare, Pastor Ajidara and Moji Olaiya – when the birthday was only a few days ahead.
