Saidi Osupa relocates to Ibadan

-denies abandoning Magodo (Lagos) home

Popular fuji act, Alhaji Saidi Akorede, better known as Osupa has moved to his home town, Ibadan, Oyo state where he now operates from, ENCOMIUM Weekly can reveal authoritatively.

Although, the reason for the decision of the controversial but talented musician to leave Lagos for his country home is yet to be ascertained, an industry source disclosed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that it may not be unconnected with the fact that Osupa is no longer comfortable staying in Lagos where he lived all his life after all his former band members deserted him.

“Saidi Osupa, has relocated to Ibadan, Oyo state. That’s where he lives now permanently. He’s now operating from his multi-million naira mansion in Felele. The house he built about five years ago.

“I learnt he has abandoned or even sold his Magodo house which he acquired about three years ago.”

On the reason the Ibadan, Oyo born fuji star relocated back home, the source said, “I really don’t know. But the truth is that I don’t think he’s comfortable any longer living in Lagos after the crisis between himself and his former band members. Besides, I learnt most of his new boys are based in Ibadan. So, for easy coordination, I think that’s the reason he also relocated to Ibadan. But all I know is that he’s no longer based in Lagos. Not only that, he has also abandoned or disposed his Magodo, Lagos house because nobody lives there anymore since about three months ago.”

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s efforts to speak to Olufimo I, as Osupa is fondly addressed, hit brick walls as all the calls we put through to his mobile phones couldn’t reach the desired destination.

We, however, got across to his band manager, Alhaji Sulaimon Balogun (Baloo) who confirmed Osupa’s resettlement in Ibadan but denied any knowledge of abandoning his Magodo, Lagos residence.

“It’s true that Saidi Osupa has moved to Ibadan. He now lives at his house in Felele. His moving to Ibadan from Lagos has nothing to do with anybody or anything rather than the fact that there is no place like home.

“Saidi is a native of Ibadan, and he has a beautiful house there. So, if he now decides to live in Ibadan, I don’t think there should be any issue about that.”

Probed further on whether the talented fuji lyricist has abandoned his Magodo, Lagos edifice as being bandied or not, Baloo explained, “Concerning Magodo house, he has not abandoned it. He sleeps there any time he’s in Lagos. But the fact is that he has relocated to Ibadan but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t come to Lagos anymore. He has no reason to abandon it. So, that’s just a rumour.”
