BEING PRESIDENT IS NO JOKE, BUHARI REVEALS
President Muhammadu Buhari told some members of his cabinet that governing Nigeria is no joke and the country seriously needs prayers to solve its challenges. He said part of the challenge is that while the economy is going down, the country has not developed agriculture and it is still trying to get investors in the solid mineral sector.
He declared that those agitating for Biafra were not born during the Civil War because they would have known the calamity the war brought to the country. He called for prayers from well meaning Nigerians, saying this is one sure way the country can grow and overcome its current economic challenges.
ARMY PLANNING TO OVER THROW BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT – JNDLF
The Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF), a body of different militant groups has disclosed that some top army officers are planning to sack Buhari’s government through a coup d’etat.
The militants revealed this in an electronic statement that some high ranking army officers were already involved in the plan of the coup, because they approached the leaders of their group, with an appeal that they should continue with the ongoing attacks on oil installations and Petroleum pipeline to overthrow the Federal Government.
FORMER CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF AZUBUIKE IHEJIRIKA ARRESTED BY DSS
Nigeria’s secret police, Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested the erstwhile chief of Army staff (COAS), Lieutenant – General Azubuike. It is believed that Mr. Ihejirika was arrested in connection with arms deal probe involving former national security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
Ihejirika described the allegations against him as frivolous and unfounded. He said the allegation was meant to divert the attention of the country and the security agencies, thereby causing division.
FAYOSE IS A MAD DOG – AISHA BUHARI
Mrs. Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari has labeled Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose a mad dog, prior to a false allegation that Mrs. Buhari was indicted in the bribery scandal of US congressman, William Jefferson.
Mrs. Buhari is obviously reacting to the allegation against her by Fayose, that she was engaged in the bribery scandal with the ex-convict.
NDRS MILITANT GROUP MAKES NEW DEMAND
Nigeria may be in for another trouble as a new militant group, Niger Delta Red Squad (NDRS), has emerged in Imo State. The new group claimed responsibility for the bombing of two pipelines belonging to Elf oil company at Awara, Ohaji Egbema local government area of the state.
According to reports, the group emerged just about two weeks after lawmakers raised questions on why the state was excluded from the ones which the Federal Government had listed for dialogue. They warned that the exclusion could trigger militancy similar to what was happening in other Niger Delta state.
OBANIKORO, FAYOSE GOT OVER N4.745 BILLION FROM ARMS DEAL FUND
Anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has revealed how both Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose and erstwhile minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro got N4.745 billion from the arms deal scandal.
According to the EFCC, N4.745 billion was paid into the diamond bank account of Sylvan McNamara, a company where Obanikoro’s sons Gbolahan and Babajide Obanikoro are signatories to the account. Regarding the fate of Fayose’s associate, a source said they will invite him for interrogation, as they have already initiated the process.
EFCC ALMOST ARRESTED FAKE AISHA BUHARI – NUHU RIBADU
Nuhu Ribadu, a one-time chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said the fake Aisha Buhari was involved in soiling the name of President Muhammadu Buhari. The former EFCC boss revealed how the Anti-graft agency during his tenure, in collaboration with the US government, almost apprehended the fake Aisha Buhari.
Ribadu’s successor at the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, had earlier confirmed that president Buhari’s wife was not the person in the scandal as alleged by the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose.
OBASANJO BLAST GOVERNORS OVER LOCAL GOVERNMENT INTERFERENCE
The ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo stated that the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the country have been rendered “impotent” and almost “bastardized”, following the massive encroachment into their affairs by the state governors. The ex-president made this known when a 60-member delegation of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) visited him at his residence on presidential Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The delegation led by the NULGE national president, Ibrahim Khaleel, were in Obasanjo’s home on Wednesday to solicit support towards freeing the LGAs from the alleged grip of the nation’s 36 state governors.
JOINT HEALTH WORKERS BEGIN SEVEN-DAY WARNING STRIKE TODAY
The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has directed medical and health workers to commence a seven-day warning strike from today. In a statement by some health unions in Abuja, yesterday, the health workers expressed displeasure that after 92 days ultimatum issued the Federal Government, they were yet to reach an agreement.
In another development, a Lagos human right lawyer, Ebun-Ola Adegboruwa, yesterday described the directive by the minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, that all doctors in government hospital be sacked, as unfortunate. He called on the presidency to look into the health sector and proffer solutions to their challenges as it is one of the basic sector in the country.
REPS APPLAUD TSA, TO PROBE ACTUAL PROCEEDS
The House of Representatives yesterday resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to ascertain the actual amount realised so far from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the government’s plans on its spending and the various government agencies from which such funds were obtained, including a comprehensive list of abandoned projects from which such funds accrued.
The resolution followed the adoption of a motion on the need to ascertain the proceeds of the TSA to enhance transparency, accountability and good governance. However, the lawmaker told the House despite the laudable commitment of the current administration, some establishment are still left out of the TSA platform.
