Senator Amosun marks International Women’s Month 2017

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has praised women for the strategic role they play in his government.
The governor stated this shortly after the state Executive Council held a special session to celebrate women as part of activities marking the 2017 International Women’s Month yesterday (March 15, 2017).
“More than the Beijing Declaration, I believe that women are very good in the way they handle things and this is why our administration has entrusted them with many strategic roles”, Amosun said.
He added that women, just like their male counterparts, are equally endowed by God and should therefore be empowered as of right.
Speaking with journalists, the state Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun charged women not to box themselves into a cage, but come out and think like men, while acting and looking like women.
On her part, Consultant to the Governor,  Mrs. Ronke Onadeko affirmed that women have proven overtime, to be good managers of resources.
She added that research, over the years, reveal that companies that have more women on their boards are usually more successful.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Investment, Mrs. Hafsat Abiola-Costello commended the governor for going beyond the requirement of the Beijing affirmative action for women inclusion in governance.
She encouraged men to embrace, support and challenge women to do more, rather than see their inclusion as a threat.
