Senator Dino Melaye blasts Cameron in London over Fantastically Corrupt comment

Senator representing the Nigerian Senate at the Commonwealth Anti Corruption Conference holding in London, Dino Melaye did not mince words this morning as he expressed displeasure at the comments by the UK Prime Minister that Nigeria was fantastically corrupt.
The panelist at the conference had put the question across to President Muhammadu Buhari, who declined to take offence with Cameron’s comment, insisting that he did not need an apology.

Senator Melaye was however not as diplomatic in his response minutes later when a BBC correspondent asked President Buhari a second time to react to Cameron’s statement. The Nigerian President permitted the Senator to answer the question on his behalf.

Melaye said, “I am highly disappointed by Cameron’s comments on Nigeria yesterday.

”This conference should remember that the BBC revealed that British government rigged the first general election in Nigeria

“Why is it that the British governmrnt encourages the ware housing of looted funds by allowing British banks to sign non disclosure agreement with looters?”

He had earlier opined on his social media that the Prime Minister was wrong in labeling Nigeria the way he did. “David Cameron is wrong in categorizing my beloved country Nigeria as fantastically corrupt, what are his indices, yardsticks and criteria. While I agree that we are corrupt, on what basis can he justify that we are the most corrupt country in the world?

“David Cameron face the allegation of your involvement in the Panama saga and leave Nigeria alone, we’re no longer a colony of yours. Cameron should appreciate the efforts of this administration in fighting corruption and restoring our reputation and dignity. UK and others are historically responsible for where we are and the institutionalization of corruption.”
