Serena is Wimbledon champion for 7th record time

United States of America’s Serena Williams, 34, beat Germany’s Angelique Kerber, 28, in straight sets at the women’s finals of Wimbledon (London, the United Kingdom) this afternoon (Saturday, July 9, 2016).

The world’s  number one seed won 7-5, 6-3, to clinch her seventh Wimbledon title and her 22nd grand slam. Her first Wimbledon win was 14 years ago, and this time she never lost a set all through the tournament.
She gushed after the match : ” It’s been incredibly difficult not to think about it. It makes the victory even sweeter to know how hard l worked hard for it. This court definitely feels like home. I have a match later today in the doubles, so l will be back out “.
