Seun Egbeegbe spends fourth weekend in prison

…still struggling to ‘perfect bail’

Serial suspect, Seun Egbeegbe is spending his fourth weekend behind the high walls of Ikoyi Prisons, struggling to get two sureties without much success. And fatigue and boredom are setting in after more than a month in detention.
Arraigned for advance fee fraud, the 40 year old music and movie promoter, who landed in prison on Friday, February 10, 2017, had been in police custody since Tuesday, February 2.
Granted bail by Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court 8 in Ikoyi  (Lagos) on Friday, February 24, Seun Egbeegbe is still searching for two sureties with N5 million in like sum.
One of the sureties should be a level 16 civil servant whose international passport would be deposited at the court.  And the other, with a property in Lagos metropolis, would deposit the certificate of occupancy.
The home and office addresses of both would be verified before the bail is effected.
And more than one week after bail was granted to Alhaji Olanrewaju Oluwaseun Olasunkanmi Kazeem (also known as Olajide Kareem), along with his accomplice  (Ayomide Oyekan), he is still behind bars (on Saturday, March 4).
Facing a felony of fraudulently obtaining over N40 million, $28,900 and £4,815, he was arrested on Tuesday, February 2 at Gbagada General Hospital after he was nabbed by passersby following allegations of swindling two bureau de change operators.
He was said to have pretended to be a doctor, while his accomplice acted the role of a patient as they obtained forex and attempted to flee.
Detained first at Ogudu Area Command, both were transferred to Lagos Police Command in Ikeja where they spent a week.
Still facing a charge of stealing nine iPhone handsets valued at N2.4 million, now adjourned to Wednesday, April 12, 2017, Egbeegbe’s incarceration is beginning to take a toll on him as those who stand by him are dwindling.
