Seun Egbeegbe spends weekend in detention

Unless a very influential person intervenes and stands as surety for suspected swindler and thief, Seun Egbeegbe – who reportedly attempted to flee with $9,000 (N4.5 million) and  £3,000 (N1.8 million), a total of N6.3 million – he will spend this weekend of Friday, February 3 to Monday, February 6, 2017, in detention.

Now cooling off in Lagos Police Command, GRA Ikeja, following Thursday, February 2 arrest at Gbagada General Hospital where he was accused defrauding two bureau de change operators, he may be in for a long time.
And since the events leading to his arrest fall on a weekend, bail is unlikely. Bail is usually not considered on weekends.
And even if bail is considered for the estranged lover of Nollywood star actress, Toyin Aimakhu, the fact that he has another criminal  case before the court on February 8 (where he’s facing a theft charge for allegedly stealing  nine iPhone handsets valued N2.4 million from Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos), favour is not on his side. Egbeegbe will be labelled a serial offender likely to jump bail.
And unless a miracle happens, his weekend in detention is sure!
