AFROJUJU creator, Sir Shina Peters (SSP) has confirmed that his pretty wife, Sammie, has cancer. He added that she is still recuperating in the USA.
The Abeokuta, Ogun born musician in a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Thursday, February 5, 2015, said Sammie’s health has improved and there is nothing to worry about.
He, however, frowned at the way the whole issue was blown out of proportion by some elements. But he thanked all Nigerians, home and abroad, who showed love and concern over his wife’s health condition.
“Thank you my brother for your concern. My wife is recovering speedily. She is very much better now. It’s true she has cancer but that has been attended to adequately. There is no cause for alarm concerning Sammie’s health. She is doing fine now. We give God the glory.”
Probed further on the type of cancerous ailment Sammie is battling, he reacted, “I have told you she is fine at the moment. Whatever the type, I believe cancer is cancer. But the most important thing is that she is doing fine now. I came back from the US few days ago. Even, on Saturday, January 31, 2015, I had a concert with Tiwa Savage at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. If my wife were to be terribly ill, I wouldn’t have left her for a concert in Nigeria.”
On when Sammie is likely to return to Nigeria, the famous entertainer said, “I can’t say anything about that now. Let’s hand over all to God who is in charge of everything. But I must be honest, I am sincerely grateful to all Nigerians that identified with us throughout the trying period.
“Let me also use this medium to thank you all downloading my music as callertune. It’s a sign of love. I really appreciate that.”
Speaking on the latest about his career, the versatile singer and renowned guitarist expressed optimism that Afrojuju will dominate the industry this year. He also added that he is putting together all resources available to ensure the goal is achieved.
“Yes, there are lots of new things concerning my career right now. I am warming up for a collaboration with all my sons in the industry, including Davido, Wizkid, Olamide and others. I believe it’s going to be a one-in-town project. Also, I will be travelling to the UK this evening. I want to purchase a new set of ultra-modern music equipment. I believe with that, there will be a kind of boost in my music. I want to set a new record in the Nigerian music industry by God’s grace. I thank you all for your support.”
