The organizers of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) Pageant and Mr. Nigeria World contest, Silverbird Group has added another feather to their wings with the birth of a family oriented TV reality pageant show tagged, Mother-Daughter Pageant Nigeria (MDPN).
In an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, Group Vice President, Silverbird, Guy Murray Bruce said the new initiative is designed to strengthen and deepen family bonds between mothers and daughters, and by extension, unite families.
“For decades, Silverbird Productions has brought to Nigerians top quality events including MBGN and Mr. Nigeria Contest. MBGN is now in its 28th year and the pageant has produced a platform for many successful women, including Agbani Darego and Nike Oshinowo.
“Today, we are here to unveil to you not just another pageant but something far more special. This is a commitment towards strengthening family bonds, as these are the bonds that matter to us most. Today, we unveil the Mother-Daughter Pageant Nigeria,” Murray Bruce said.
According to him, those eligible to contest are girls within the age bracket of nine and 16, with their biological or foster mothers. Murray Bruce added that 60 per cent of votes would come from the viewing public, 30 per cent from the judges while 10 per cent will come from the audience at the grand finale holding in Lagos in April 2015.
“Shortlisted participants will be in camp seven days. During their stay, series of activities will be carried out by each mother and daughter, such as cooking competitions, fashion shows, games, talent hunt, among others. Winners will emerge from each challenge and the points will be added to their grand finale performance. The winning mother and daughter will go home with N2 million and a trip to Dubai including other fantastic prizes.
“The objective is to show and focus on how family qualities are passed from generation to generation and from mother to child,” Murray-Bruce said, adding that the sales of forms have kicked-off and are available at all Silverbird malls, and could also be downloaded online on the platform’s website.
