SINGER, CHIDINMA ACQUIRES RANGE ROVER

Petite award-winning singer, Chidinma Ekile is sure in a joyous mood as she picked a brand new 2014 Range Rover jeep. The MTN brand ambassador got the new wonder on wheels a few days back as a testimony that 2013 was indeed fruitful for her.

The Kedike crooner who performed brilliantly at the just concluded MTN Valentine Rave party on Friday, February 14, 2014, confirmed the expensive toy and expressed her joy saying it was by dint of hard work, not a gift. Chidinma, who won the MTN Project Fame in 2011, also took to her Instagram page to share the good news with her fans.

She posted the photo of herself inside her new ride with caption: ‘I love this new ride… #biggerandbetter #hardworkpays #mysweat #notagift #hello2014 #glorytoGodnotman #moreworktobedone #Godisfaithful,’ she wrote, hinting that her new toy isn’t a gift but bought from her hard earned money.

Chidinma Ekile is of eastern Nigerian descent and the fifth out of six siblings.

She grew up under strict Christian parents and became very involved in the church choir from a very tender age of 10. She attended primary and secondary schools in Ketu, Lagos, before the family relocated to also in Ikorodu, Lagos.

In 2009, she discovered MTN Project Fame West Africa music reality TV show on television and followed the maiden edition keenly in her living room, wishing to be part of the huge show someday. Her dreams began to take shape when a close friend of hers encouraged her to go for the Lagos audition of the third edition of Project Fame. She caught a bus from Ikorodu to Ultima Studios, the audition venue and joined the long queue of over 8,000 contestants, with only N400 in her pocket. All she had was belief.

Chidinma was short-listed amongst the last 18 contestants to go into the Fame Academy. For the next 10 weeks, she lived under strict tutelage from the Faculty comprising voice coaches, choreography, inspirational visits and sessions with established musicians and music business service providers, tough rehearsal drills, etc.

Chidinma Ekile was born in the late 80’s and is a business promoter and student in Lagos. She loves singing and listening to the radio. On September 26, 2011, she won the third edition of Project Fame West Africa, alongside the hearts of millions of Nigerians who grew to love the petite and endearing 21 year old girl. She carted away N 2.5 million, a car and a recording contract. Her first single is entitled, Jankoliko and features Nigerian music veteran, Sound Sultan. The video was directed by award-winning cinematographer, Clarence Peters.

Her music influences include Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Omawumi, Onyeka Onwenu, Bob Marley, Lagbaja, Dare Art Alade, etc. Her style is predominantly afrocentric pop music, with a lot of Nigerianness to it, clearly evident in her song writing and thematic range.
