Singer, Faze quashes acting career tale

Popular artiste Chibuzor Orij, also known as Faze, has washed his hands off an alleged acting career. Speaking with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Friday, April 17, 2015, in a phone chat, the music star said, “I am not going into acting. The movie they are talking about is an old one. It was shot way back. I am surprised that people are just noticing it. I was compelled to do it but still appreciate the opportunity. I am not going into movies, my album will be out soon.”

The social media was agog a couple of days back saying the Originality crooner has kicked off an acting career. Rumour peddlers said the talented singer decided to try his hands on acting because we have not heard much of his music career of recent.

It was alleged that he was on set with AMBO 5 winner, Ivie Okujaiye. They were said to have been seen on different locations. It was rumoured that he played a lead in Alero’s Symphony from Amstel Malta Box Office, acting alongside Bimbo Manuel, Matilda Obaseki, Ovie Okujaiye but our findings revealed the said movie was shot years backs. It dates back to early 2000 and it was premiered at the Genesis Cinema, Lagos. Close source corroborated what Faze told ENCOMIUM Weekly.

“Faze is not going into acting, the movie they are referring to was shot over three years ago, may be they are just watching it for the first time, that is why it is all over the place. He is still actively involved in music, his album will soon be out.”

Chibuzor Oji, better known by his stage name Faze, is a Nigerian. born musician. He was a member of the defunct Nigerian hip hop group, Plantashun Boyz, along with BlackFace Naija and 2Face, better known as 2Face Idibia. The group split up in 2004 and each member went on to launch successful solo careers.

Faze is a best-selling Nigerian artist. His first album Faze Alone sold over three million copies, while his second album, Independent has sold over seven million copies. His third album, Originality went platinum in its first month of release. He is the first Nigerian artist to have three consecutive platinum albums. Faze is known for his ability to sing the highest vocal note out of Nigerian contemporary male musicians. He is one of the most inspirational and gifted artistes in Africa.
