‘Skills acquisition vital to National Development’ – Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has harped on the importance of skills acquisition to national development and personal advancement.
He said this while hosting 226 campers of the 2018 Ogun Summer Camp, in Government House, Abeokuta, adding that skills acquired at the camp, will serve as catalyst for their greatness in future
He noted that the camp afforded them the opportunity of meeting notable personalities, like Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka and Chief Executive Officer of Daar Communications Plc, Dr. Kenny Ogungbe.
Amosun urged them to put into practice what they learnt in arts and crafts, as well as etiquette, enjoining them to extend the spirit of friendship they cultivated beyond the camp.
Earlier, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, who described this year’s camp as an enlarged one, said it attracted participants from other states.
Soyinka, during his visit to the camp, had councelled the campers on ways to avoid vices that can jeopardise their future.
“You mind the type of company you keep and do not fall into peer pressure. Politics is not for you at this young age. However, if you have to do this in the future, it has to be from the lower position in the land”, Soyinka said.
Ogungbe, on his part, advised them not to be discouraged by the prevailing challenges, but be focused on their studies and hope for the best in future.
