+Why I don’t perform during Ramadan

Fuji star, Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, famously addressed as Malaika, has expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for sparing his life in the Saturday, May 13, 2017, auto crash involving his Toyota Highlander jeep and a truck on Ikorodu Road, Onipanu area of Lagos state. He added he would forever be grateful to Allah for the continued protection on his person, his family and band members.

Speaking with encomium.ng on Thursday, June 1, 2017, Alayeluwa, as Malaika is also known, said, “All I need to say is Alhamdulillahi (glory be to God) because if God didn’t save us that day, it would have been a different story now. But I thank God everybody is okay now. I have been certified fit by my doctor. I was rushed to TUBA Hospital, Ebute Meta, Logos, where I was taken care of. And I thank God, I am very much okay now.

“I have even performed at two shows after the incident. I thank Almighty Allah for His protection on me, my family and my band members. Now, I am around resting because of Ramadan. That has always been my practice during the holy month.”

On why he doesn’t perform during Ramadan, he explained, “For me, I give very much regard for the month. I usually use the period to rest and move closer to God in all my acts of Ibadah. And I am always blessed at the end of the month even beyond expectation.

“Even, on Sunday, June 4, 2017, my annual Ramadan lecture, Malaika Alayeluwa Ramadan Lecture, will hold at Railway Compound, Ebute Meta, Yaba, Lagos. And a lot of dignitaries are expected to attend ma’ sha Allah.”
