Tee A speaks on his show, Tyme Out With Tee A

Popular comedian, Tee A and his team are already crossing their ‘t’s and doting their ‘i’s in preparation for another edition of Tyme out with Tee A on Sunday, November 16,2014.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had an interview with him about the forthcoming event and much more.

T-A-2How is preparation for your forthcoming event, Tyme out with Tee A?

Preparation is going on well, we are trying to finish one or two things that people don’t get to see, we are preparing.

How will you describe the last edition?

It was more than we envisaged. Even before the day, we had sold out all our VIP tickets, even tables. We just had few tickets for sale, the same thing is happening this time also.

What lapses did you notice in the last edition that you want to correct now?

We didn’t start early because there were so many events that day but this time around, as far as I am aware, there is no major event coming up that day. So, we will start early.

We have a richer content this year. Two great artistes are coming King Sunny Ade and Davido. It is an improvement of what we did last year.

Also, the audience will be mixed, matured corporate audience and expatriates.

How challenging is preparation?

It is very challenging, we are doing what an event company should do but we are happy to be doing it. My team had been on their feet for a long time to ensure everything works out well.

It must have cost a fortune to invite two giant musicians, King Sunny Ade and Davido, how much have you invested so far?

I have not sat with the accounts department to calculate all we have spent, when the event is over, we will look at what we spend and how much we were able to make.

How do you intend recouping what you have spent?

For me, it is about living your calling. Once the audience is happy, I am fulfilled. We will also be able to monetize the content after the event. Hopefully, we will get sponsors and make more from it.

What informed the choice of artistes you invited?

We try to bring in someone that has been in the music industry for a while, we considered the rave of the moment, it is a bridge between the old and the new. The audience are not all young, we have the old too, so everybody can enjoy the show.

Tee-A-3-399x600What about the comedians?

We want to recognize those that were in the business when I started, my contemporaries. The younger comedians are also coming though not all of them, just a few because the content of the show is not about the upcoming.

The event is a premium content, the artistes are contemporary and premium at the same time. Aside my contemporaries, some premium comedians such as Ali Baba and so on are coming.

What makes it thick?

If you had watched the show, it is the first and only variety show with a mixture of comedy, interview and live performances. There are interactive sessions as well. It also affords our corporate clients to network. There is class when you come into the show. It is not just any show, it is a premium show with premium brand on board.

Any sponsor so far?

No major sponsor. It is self sponsored but clients are buying tables, they have partnered us in that aspect. Some people gave us high hopes at first, it was later we realized that things did not work out, but we have corporate companies buying tables.

Do you often make your money back?

Most times we make back the cost, sometimes we make profit. We even incure loss at times. If you are confident of what you do, you will be able to put your personal money into it.
