The Black & White Ball trots to a chortle-fest

WE are trotting, at times prancing, and on many occasions swaying, on account of all the torrents of support and assurances coming our way for the 7-star, high octane ball billed for Sunday, August 10, 2014, at the Gem of New Lagos, Ruby Gardens, Lekki (Lagos).

We are suffused by the goodwill of the good people of Nigeria, and scores of organizations.

And now, we are ready to host our most colourful characters at a grand ceremony which means the world to legions.

The Black & White Ball incorporating the Elegance, Style and Substance Awards, and showcasing jaw-dropping drapes and duds is being adorned with glamour and glitz by those who transform shindigs to fabulous extravaganza.

We have on our side to elevate the entertainment content comedy’s royalty; the ruling class among rib- crackers is turning the ball to a chortle-fest which warms our bosoms.

Blue-blooded comedians, the authentic rulers – Ali Baba, Okey Bakassi, Tee A, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Julius ‘D’ Genius Agwu and AY and more who rule and reign without opposition will titillate to no end and make your day more exhilarating that evening.

We are dancing and jiggling, that our spectacular ball is assuming a glorious status. Clean, beautiful jokes by the masters will amplify our guests’ fun in appreciable scale.

And we also have music, live music from a band that has been around for decades, turning the stratosphere into a soothing symphony of joy.

Julius Agwu’s band, The Reel Laif Band led by the comedian who has a few albums and many hits, will take all on an eventful voyage of bliss.

What’s more, there’s the leader we are happy to follow without a question. DJ Jimmy Jatt, Africa’s number one disc jockey has plans to ensure that you never sit still. From his modern gadget, today’s most popular music and many of yesterday’s hits will caress your ears.

Don’t forget, it is a ball. So, dancing is welcome.

From 4 p.m till we depart, at 10, the excitement and fun will be enormously overwhelming in a beautiful way.

COMEDY WEDS MUSIC, FINE DINING ROMANCES MORE GOODIES

What transforms a ball to a spectacular ceremony that settles all alone in a League of One? It is the introduction of many dramatic and heart-thumping twists and turns which leaves guests satiated with sweet after taste.

That has always been our primary objective. And this year, we have improved in a thousand and one way. Apart from multiplying the entertainment content with more music and comedy, we have an array of items which will gladden our guests hugely.

Let us begin with what’s on our menu! Remember, last year paraded a 7-course meal. This year, we are plotting a 10-course meal – and our caterers, Osho’s Celebrations, Bissy Cat, Hot Pots, Mark’z Catering Services, 12 Baskets, Phoebe’s and RL Dessert, have come up with a menu that turned our office into a high class restaurant last week, as we tasted the gourmet delicacies. Everyone was smiling and back-slapping at the unbelievable items that our guests will enjoy.

Now, let’s go to drinks: Don’t forget that we have Intercontinental Distillers Ltd. solidly behind us in this voyage of thrill. With their array of world class drinks – Veleta Sparkling Fruit Drink to Finlays Tonic Wine, Squadron Blended Dark Rum and Chelsea London Dry Gin, we cannot go wrong.

We have Bonix, the husband and wife duo that are proficient at quenching thirst and refining taste buds, on our corner. Their inexhaustible bars will see us all glowing and jolly.

There’s Labash, the company run by Bashir Tanimowo, solidly grounded in the business of cocktails. With tall, large, small and big glasses filled with colourful drinks, without additives, we are in ecstasy.

Your mouth will be busy from the moment you arrive, until you call it a day – a beautiful day which will be indelible in your memory as fun-filled, classy and surpassing its billing.

WE MAKE LITTLE DEMANDS –FORMAL MONOCHROME ATTIRES AND GOOD FORM

The clean, simple and elegant invitation cards are leaving our offices in batches – and our guests, those we are honoured to host and serenade, stars of movies, music, comedy and television, serious entrepreneurs, game changing professionals and uncommon politicos, will receive theirs this week. So, kindly keep the date –Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 4 till 10 p.m.

We make little demands on our guests. Their enjoyment gives us an indescribable thrill. We are happy to fawn over them and give them a memorable experience.

The only demands we have: they should adorn elegant formal attires in monochrome and display good form. That’s all.

We have labeled it a Black & White Ball for many reasons, but the most apparent is the dress and colour code. For balls, you adorn your most formal attires. And we have prescribed ‘black tie’ which means, you must have on a black tie if you choose Western garbs.

If your call is traditional pieces, it must be ceremonial and complete.

Ladies pick knee-length or floor sweeping gowns. And those who favour indigenous numbers have an array of choices – from iro and buba, George wrapper and sequined tops, to body skimming two-piece skirt and blouse.

The dress and colour codes are enforced to the letter, and we are inconsolable when we have to turn our friends, associates, partners and well-wishers back.

Since we all seek refinement and elegance, we also ask that our guests display good form. You know that mien and attitude that is considerate, thoughtful, kind and respectful. These are the enviable attributes exhibited by gentlemen and ladies.

Arrive in good time (apart from punctuality being good form, the menu is arranged for particular time as there are all of 10 courses to serve), dress appropriately, plant a smile on your face and be warm, show your invitation card, and generally obey law enforcers –from Policemen, LASTMA officials to our private security guards (K-Square Security).

Don’t make unnecessary demands, respect waiters and ushers (and don’t order anyone around).

The ball is your ball, so enjoy all on offer!

DRENCHED AND DRIPPING WITH SUPPORT…

We are soaking wet by the monsoon of support which has come our way for this unbeatable and unmatchable ball which colours the social calendar crimson and cheerful. We are drenched and dripping by the resources at our disposal.

Here at ENCOMIUM, the magazine and events company, we count our blessings and name them one by one. We are deeply grateful for the enormous goodwill we enjoy.

Let’s start from Intercontinental Distillers Limited, the producers of world class drinks. They are again behind us –and we are twice as lucky. Apart from all the products in their arsenal, they have two new ones our guests will savour and relish.

There’s Chapeau range of red wine which was just launched, and new Veleta sparkling fruit drink set for a surprise.

From the welcome reception arena where there will be a corner for cocktails of Intercontinental Distillers Ltd’s drinks, there will be another winner by the side.

We are enjoying enormous favour that gratitude lives in our bosoms…

With Ruby Gardens, the Gem of New Lagos with Mrs. Oyinkan Oyofo going beyond the call of duty and service, we are at home. Their majestic marquees on expansive acres are fittingly appropriate.

And with 7-star facilities, where else can we go?

We never claim to know all, but we know experts who are masters of their game. And when you talk about elegant and classy events, we don’t know anyone who sets the pace like Mrs. Ibidunni Ituah-Ighodalo’s Elizabeth R. Her events planning company is equipped to cater for royal ceremonies, and with her knowledge of the business which extends beyond Nigeria (where she has managed many events in Europe, United Arab Emirates and more), she is the winner by kilometers. Turning classy events to magical ceremonies is her turf.

We are not only blessed but favoured. The avalanche of support from experts for our events tells more than stories. They show us that kindness abounds. And one such uncommon kindness comes from Tents Events. Even when we were green, they have been our partners.

Like they did last year, they are bringing massive canopies to protect our guests from the elements.

Our welcome reception areas will be truly inviting.

Alhaji Teju Kareem’s Zmirage will parade upscale gadgets for stage, sound and screens, and uplift the ball into a grand ceremony all will applaud, and those with technical know cheer.

They are plotting a world class stage, designed for a first rate ceremony. And we have started sorting out the details.

There are many stages –for the band, the awards presentation and where the host (that’s still under-wraps) will sway and swagger.

The sound will be crisp and clean. And the big screens will ensure that events in the magical marquee will be larger than life.

When you have K-Square Security’s bulky, menacing but well-mannered guards, you have very few things to worry about. Kunle Komolafe’s men are a study in professionalism. Firm without being insolent or condescending, they attend to guests and ensure everything is in order around the vicinity without breaking a sweat.

And we have men of Nigeria Police as friends. They will plant confidence and courage in our hearts as we enjoy the evening.

And officials from LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) will guarantee free flow of traffic around the vicinity and ensure cars and jeeps are properly and securely parked.

WE ASK FOR MORE

Over the years, we have learnt never to stop asking. There are enormous resources and abundant expertise in this land that are unimaginable. Dreamers and dream makers as well as gifted minds populate Nigeria –and it is only by asking that you can come across them.

So, we are asking for support in all areas, in areas that can elevate the event, and plant it more heavenwards.

We seek sponsorship, sponsorship by reputable organizations with front-line products.

Please, call, text or send a mail to 08055002034 or [email protected].

STEP INTO THE HUB, GET A BRANDED TABLE

You can give your company an edge; plant yourself in the hub of the ball by picking a branded table of ten guests. With enormous benefits apart from partaking in a first class event and enjoying 7-star treatment, you are in good company. We have many big businesses and enterprises on our side, and you can join them.

Kindly call, text or send a mail to 08055002034 or [email protected].

Plant yourself in the front row.
