The musician popularly addressed as Skales (Raoul John Njeng- Njeng) and his manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe, spent last night (Tuesday, May 31) in police detention at Onikan (Lagos) following a petition alleging fraud from Baseline Records.
The 25 year old musician and his manager reportedly landed in trouble after they were set up and fell to the bait, after many months of financial misappropriation was suspected.
The duo fell when they allegedly got payment for a show in California, United States of America without telling the record label about it. They allegedly pocketed the money, and confirmed the company’s suspicion.
Encomium.ng gathered that Skales and his manager usually told the label about how they were paid for shows, and after logistics and fees were removed, not much was left for the label which invested a lot of money on the singer.
Skales and the manager were ‘undercharging’, in spite of the singer’s popularity. They were said to be lying about the fees the musician raked in so that they could short change the label.
When money invested was not coming in, and after months of suspicion, both were set up with the California show. Money was paid after the booking, and the label was kept in the dark. That led to the petition that got them arrested yesterday.
