The rise and rise of Bimbo Thomas

Popular Yoruba actress and business woman, Bimbo Thomas who recently welcomed a baby boy on the Saturday, July 16, 2016,  in the United States of America , has  no doubt made her mark in the Nigerian movie industry. Despite being the subject of a relationship controversy, Bimbo has been able to maintain her fan base of ardent supporters who can’t  wait for her to return to the big screen.

Bimbo was born on September 29 in the 80’s in Lagos. She grew up in Obanla area of Lagos.

Bimbo who is a Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) shot to fame after playing Nikky in the popular Funke Akindele film Omo ghetto which was released in 2011. To her, that was her most challenging role  ever. Popular actor Femi Brainard and actress Sikiratu Sindodo were her class mates.

She said she was introduced to acting by her friend Tayo Odueke popularly known as Sikirat Sindodo. She was later introduced to veteran director Lanre Abbey who then brought her to veteran actor Yinka Quadri’s Odunfa Caucus, where she gained prominence.

She has featured in several other blockbusters like Jennifa, Eruku Nla, Farayola, Opolo, Kos, Trouble1&2, Oluomo 1&2 and Omo Poly, to name a few.

In May 2015, Bimbo opened her wine store named ‘Bimbally Wine n Liqour’ along Toyin street, Ikeja, Lagos. The store is said to be worth millions of naira. The opening ceremony was well attended by Nollywood superstars, Iyabo Ojo, Ireti Osayemi, amongst several other movie stars.

More fortune smiled on her as she clinched a juicy deal with telecoms giant Globacom late last year. The deal saw her appear on billboards and newspaper ads.

She continued in her entrepreneurial exploits as she was reported to have open a clothing store in Yaba. She had to put the launching of the store on hold because of her pregnancy.

Rather than break her, the allegations of being pregnant to a certain married man Mr. Alake which broke out  early this year, has seen her gain fame.

With the successful delivery of her baby, we hopes to see her return to the screen soon.
