‘The story of our performance in 5 years is the stuff of a best seller’ -COMRADE AYODELE

For the Executive Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, this is a time of reflection on how far he has been able to take his local council after five years of meritorious service in office.

The all action activist cum politician did just this on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, as he hosted media men to a breakfast parley at the Golden Tulips Hotel, Amuwo Odofin LG, where he rendered account of his stewardship as part of activities to mark his 5th anniversary in office.

Addressing the audience, the LG boss noted that speaking about the giant strides the council has taken in the last five years was a confirmation that his government recognized the expectations of the people of Amuwo Odofin and was always ready to address them.

He said, “We are gathered here today to review the progress of a journey we started 1,827 days ago and the performance of our social contract.

“Looking at the past five years, I am happy to say that our government has done a lot to touch the lives of our people. This administration has carved for itself an image of efficiency, commitment, humility and good governance through quality service to the people.

“Without being immodest, I will like to observe that the riveting story of the unprecedented, socio-economic changes that our administration has affected in the local government is the stuff of a best seller.”

He added, “Since this administration came to power about five years ago, we have worked concertedly to cover a milestone in several sectors including education, works and infrastructure and health.”

Comrade Ayodele also expressed his gratitude for the many awards his administration received during the period under review, noting that it was a further testament to the importance of hard work, dedication and service to the people.

“Today, in Amuwo Odofin local government, we have shared some glorious moments, like being a recipient of the Federal Ministry of Environment award as the best environment-friendly local government in Nigeria in 2009, Lagos state award for the best nurtured trees 2011, Governor’s award on Best local government on primary health delivery service 2010 and 2011, amongst several other national and international merit awards.”

He also used the occasion to sign a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Information Technology to empower 200 youths in the council, declaring the training programme open to all qualified youths residing in the local government.

He, however, enjoined citizens to dutifully play their part in ensuring the government can continue to deliver excellent services by promptly paying their taxes and levies.

“Citizens should play their complimentary role in terms of meeting their civic duties and responsibilities, like the payment of taxes, rates, levies, etc.

“May I use this occasion to congratulate the new Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo and pray that God should give her the wisdom to lead the association well, just like her predecessor, Alhaja Abibat Mogaji did.”
