‘They should die by hanging’ – They echo

Lagos residents have applauded the capital punishment for kidnappers as proposed by the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, describing it as a step in a right direction.
Speaking with encomium.ng, some Lagosians we sought their views were even eager to see the bill passed into law in no distant time.

‘I have been expecting something like this’ – John Enebuli

In fact, God will bless the Speaker for coming up with proposal. I believe if that’s in place, we will all be happy. Arresting and detaining them are not enough at all. They should be prosecuted and if found guilty, they should all die by hanging.

I think the proposal is even belated, they should have done that since last year. Anyway, I still salute the courage of the Speaker for the proposal. l pray it’s endorsed by the governor, kidnappers don’t mean well for those kidnapped because some of them die in the process even after collecting ransom from their families. So, it’s a welcome idea that should be signed into law as soon as possible.

It’s highly welcome’ – Wasiu Sanusi

The Speaker, Hon. Obasa is doing the right thing concerning that. If those caught in the web are tried, then face death sentence, that will serve as deterrents to others. I think the proposal should be applauded by all and sundry’.

‘It’s an appropriate step’ – Ijaola Mary

I am a mother, l feel how the agony of those whose families have fallen victims is. All kidnappers should be hanged to death. I wholeheartedly welcome the idea. They should just work on it quickly and start implementing it.
