‘This year’s All White Nite Out is to thank God for saving me from my assailant’ -Soji Omotayo

FAMOUS radio and television presenter, Soji Omotayo, otherwise known as SOJ, has once again deemed it fit to be grateful to God for saving him from the hands of his assailant, Kunle Kushimo, a.k.a Agarawu, by staging an All White Nite Out, on Thursday, December 17, 2015.

The event, at Glass House Event and Suites, Oko Oba, Abule Egba, Lagos, is expected to draw dignitaries from all walks of life.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had a phone chat with the Baaroyin Apede Ara, as Omotayo is fondly addressed, on Friday, December 4, 2015, on this and much more including his alleged attempted murder case with his hitherto bosom friend, Kunle Kushimo…

Thursday, October 29, 2015, was the hearing of your petition against Mr. Kunle Kushimo (Agarawu) on alleged attempted murder, what’s the development concerning the case?

Nothing yet.  We’re at the magistrate court, Ota, Ogun State that day but surprisingly, the magistrate didn’t sit.  We were told she was on another special assignment. They now said we should pick another date which is Monday, December 14, 2015.  I have decided not to dwell on the case.  It’s an attempted murder case between the state and the suspect.  Now, I am forging ahead with what I know how to do best.

But what are your expectations from the case?

No other expectation than the prevalence of the rule of law.  I believe in the rule of law.  And it’s only the court that has the final say on that.  I know the truth shall prevail.

What’re you doing at the moment?

I am back fully on my radio and television programmes after the attack. Everybody is aware that I am back and better now.  And everybody is aware of my All White Nite Out, which is a brain child of SOJ Productions, powered by so many media houses.  All White Nite Out is basically a unique event.  It’s very outstanding and spiritual.  It has been on for three years.  The last Thursday before Christmas is usually a date for All White Nite Out where we celebrate excellence in politics, corporate organizations, entertainment and high society.  However, everybody is also very much welcome.

How would you describe the previous editions?

They were fantastic.  The turn outs were very impressive.  That’s why we’re able to continue with the event.

What’s going to make this year’s edition special?

Yes, this year’s edition has already been tagged Special because I want to use it to thank God for sparing my life while outstanding celebrities and corporate organizations will also be honoured.

Who are the likes of the A-list guest expected at the occasion?

The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is going to be the Chief Host while Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State will be special guest of honour.  There are special awards tagged in the names of Lagos and Ondo States.  A lot of other notable entertainers, including Queen Ayo Balogun, Yinka Ayefele, Obesere, Pasuma, Shefiu Alao, Doris Simeon, LKT, Helen Paul, Muyiwa Ademola and many more.

Another special segment of the event is the unveiling of my wife, Ewa Ade Omotayo’s new album and video.  We’re sure of maximum turn out this year as well.  And just like I said, I am using the opportunity to specially thank God for saving my life in the hands of my assailant.  If not for God, the story would have been otherwise.  I give God the glory.  And I sincerely appreciate my fans, home and abroad who have since stood by me.  God will continue to bless you all.

What are the preparations on ground now for the event?

We’re preparing.  You also should know that Soji Omotayo can’t afford to fail.  I can’t disappoint my fans.  I am putting the finishing touches to everything concerning the programme.  That’s what I have been busy doing in the past few days.  I believe by the special grace of God, everything will turn out successful at the end of it all.
