Those who may return among the Lagos LG chairmen as Executive Secretary

SINCE the expiration of the tenure of local government chairmen in Lagos State, on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, speculations have been rife on who among them will return as Executive Secretary of yet to be formed Caretaker Committees that will replace the chairmen pending the next LG elections in the state.

Although ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that many of the LG chairmen are lobbying to be appointed but the leadership of the party (APC), in the state have decided that all LG chairmen who have served more than one term should not be allowed to come back as ExecutiveSecretary.  That only those who have served just once should be appointed Executive Secretaries.  And that such appointment must be approved by all the leaders in the LG area.

We take a cursory look at those among them that are likely to be appointed ES and those that will never come back.

HON. AYODEJI ABDULKAREEM is the former chairman of Agege Local Government Council. He is certainly not coming back because he has served two terms.

HON. KAMAL AYINDE BAYEWU, is the former LG boss of Ajeromi/Ifelodun.  He has served two terms and has picked nomination for Lagos West senatorial district.

HON. OLUSHOLA ADEKUNLE is the immediate past chairman of Alimosho Local Government Council.  He has served two terms and is certainly not coming back as the Executive Secretary.

HON. AYODELE ADEWALE of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Council has also served two terms and certainly not coming back.

HON. AYODEJI JOSEPH has just concluded his two terms at Apapa Local Government Council and if information at our disposal is anything to go by, he has picked nomination form for Apapa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

HON. HUSITODE MUSE DOSU, is the immediate past chairman of Badagry Local Government Council.  He has served two terms and has also picked nomination form for Lagos House of Assembly.

HON. JAMIU SEGUN AGBOYE is the chairman of Epe Local Government Council that has just vacated office after two terms.  He is now interested in representing Epe Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

HON. ANOFIU ELEGUSHI just concluded his two terms as chairman, Eti Osa Local Government Council.  He is not coming back as executive secretary.

HON. SEMIU KEMI SURAKAT has just concluded his first term as the chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council.  The young man maybe appointed executive secretary if the leaders in his LG give him the nod.

APOSTLE OLORUNTOBA OKE is the immediate chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Council. He has just completed his first term. He may be appointed the Executive Secretary of the Caretaker Committee if the leaders of the party in the LG favour his return.

HON. ADEWALE ODUNLAMI, is the ex-chairman of Ikeja Local Government Council. Aside the fact he is getting old, he has served more than two terms.

HON. SHERIFF ADISA ANIPOLE is the septuagenarian that has occupied the coveted chair of Ikorodu Local Government Council for two terms of six years. He deserves some rest.

HON. MIKHAIL AFOLABI SOFOLA is the immediate past chairman of Kosofe LG.  He has only served one term.  His father in-law, Alhaji Sunmola has given his nod for his return as Executive Secretary but other leaders in the LG area, we gathered are kicking against it.  So, his chance of returning as Executive Secretary is still unsure.

HON. WASIU ESHINLOKUN SANNI has just completed two terms as the chairman of Lagos Island where he left an indelible mark.  He has since moved on to bigger responsibility as the General Secretary of the party (APC) in the state.

HON. OLADELE ADEKANYE has done two meritorious terms as the chairman of Lagos Mainland.  He has also picked nomination forms for Lagos Mainland Constituency I seat at Lagos House of Assembly.

HON. BABATUNDE ADEPITAN, the teacher turned politician has done two terms as the chairman of Mushin Local Government Council.  He is certainly not coming back as Executive Secretary.

HON. GBOLAHAN BAGOSTOWE, the immediate past chairman of Somolu Local Government Council has served two terms.  He is certainly not going to be appointed as Executive Secretary.

HON. TAJUDEEN AJIDE, has just served one term as the chairman of Surulere Local Government Council.  If what we heard is anything to go by, he may not be appointed the executive secretary of the LG.  He is said to be at loggerhead with some leaders in the LG area.

HON. AUGUSTINE AROGUNDADE has just served his first term as the chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA.  He is not likely to return despite serving only a term.  The leaders in the area which include Governor Aregbesola of Osun State are not in favour of his return either as Executive Secretary or chairman in the next LG elections.

HON. OBAFEMI DUROSIMI, of Agboyi/Ketu LCDA has just completed his first three years tenure as the chairman of the council.  His returning as the next Executive Secretary of the council is, however, dicey.

HON. ADESOLA ADEDAYO is the immediate past chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA.  He has served two terms.  He is now eyeing the House of Representatives seat of Apapa Federal Constituency.  He has his counterpart at Apapa LG, Hon. Ayodeji Joseph and the incumbent, Hon. Babatunde Jimoh Adewale to contend with for the seat.

HON. SHARIKU YUSUF was the chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA before they were sent packing on Wednesday, October 29, 2014.  He has just served one term. He is likely to be returned as the Executive Secretary of the LCDA. We have it on good authority that the party leaders in Alimosho have approved his return.

HON. HONTONU JOSEPH BAMGBOSE was, before Wednesday, October 29, 2014, the chairman of Badagry West LCDA.  He has served two terms as the chairman of the LCDA.  He is certainly not going to return as the Executive Secretary.

HON. AKEEM OMOYELE SULAIMON, was the three-term chairman of Bariga LCDA.  He was also the chairman of all the local government councils chairmen in the state a.k.a Conference 57.  He is already eyeing the House of Representatives seat for Somolu Federal Constituency. He has the incumbent, Hon. Deji Jakande and Mr. Ademorin Kuye, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy to contend with for the seat.

HON. ADETUTU AKINYEMI-OBE is the immediate past chairman of Coker-Aguda LCDA.  She has only served a term and is most likely to be appointed Executive Secretary of the LCDA because she is in the good books of the political leaders in the area.

HON. KEHINDE BAMIGBETAN was the chairman of Ejigbo LCDA until Wednesday, October 29.  He has served two terms and has already picked nomination form for House of Representatives to represent Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.

HON. RAMOTA OSENI-ADEYERI, has only served one term.  She is likely to be returned as the Executive Secretary of the LCDA if all the leaders in the area concur.  We gathered that some of them are still vehemently opposed to her return as Executive Secretary.

HON. MODUPE ADESINA WILLIAMS has only served one term as chairman of Igando-Ikotun.  Her return as the Executive Secretary of the LCDA is very dicey because she has issues with many political leaders in the area.

HON. JIMBO ADEMEHIN has just served one term as the chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA. If information at our disposal is to be followed, she is the only one among the five LG/LCDA chairmen in Ikorodu Division that is likely to return as Executive Secretary.

HON. ABDULFATAI OYESANYA was the chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, before the unceremonious exit of the LG/LCDA chairmen. He has just served one term.  Under normal circumstances, he is supposed to return as Executive Secretary of the LCDA.  But information at our disposal says that leaders of APC in the area do not want him back.

HON. BOLAJI MUSE-ARIYOH, who was the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Council has just served one term. He is most likely to return as Executive Secretary of the LG.

HON. SHAMSUDEEN OLALEYE, the immediate past chairman of Isolo LCDA has also just completed one term.  He may be on his way back to the LCDA as the Executive Secretary.

HON. HAKEEM BAMGBOLA, was the two-term chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA.  He was also the General Secretary of Association of Local Goernment Chairmen, a.k.a Conference 57 in Lagos State.  He is certainly not coming back as Executive Secretary.

HON. JULIUS OLORO of Ojodu LCDA has just served a term.  Like others that have only served one term, he is supposed to be returned as the ES of the council but information at our disposal says this is very uncertain.  The party leadership of the area particularly Hon. James Faleke is alleged not to be in support of his appointment as Executive Secretary.

HON. FRANCIS BABATUNDE OKE of Onigbongbo LCDA has also just served one term.  Barring last minute change of mind, he is likely to return as the Executive Secretary.

HON. OLAJIDE JIMOH has served meritoriously for two terms as the chairman of Yaba LCDA. He has now picked nomination form for Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.
