The night of Thursday, May 5, 2016, at their first floor three-bedroom apartment on 3, Teimo Close, off Awori Street, Egbeda (Lagos), drastically altered the destiny of the Ogun state indigene as he engaged in loud altercations with 37 year old Ronke Shonde.
By 8:30, according to the Police, he struck his wife with a devastating blow to the head… and she passed out. Pathologists from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja who conducted the autopsy maintained that the woman who grew up in Ibadan (Oyo state) died around that time.
By the morning of Friday, May 6, when the children’s nanny resumed, the main door to the flat was locked. As she banged away, she became worried and called neighbours who decided to break the door.
And a lifeless body of Ronke in a t-shirt and shorts lay on the floor. Her children were with the corpse.
Eventually, the Police were invited.
Meanwhile, calls to Lekan Shonde was incoherently replied, and he later fled.
