TIT BITS FROM HON. OMOWUNMI OLATUNJI-EDET’S 40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

1-DSC_0440Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet, a member of Lagos House of Assembly celebrated her 40th birthday on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Blue Roof, LTV 8, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Lagos.

Although she actually turned 40 on August 15, 2013, she chose that week to do different things for people of her constituency such as organizing sports events for the youths and distributing poverty alleviation materials. So, Sunday, September 27, 2013, was the day she chose to celebrate her 40th birthday elaborately.

 

HER PROFILE

Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet was born on August 15, 1973, in Lagos Island, to the family of Pa Eddo Samuel Olatunji.

She had her primary education at St. Matthew’s Primary School, Akure and her secondary education at St. Louis Girls Grammar School, Akure. Her tertiary education started at National Teachers Institute, Kaduna, where she trained to be a teacher.

She was also at Lagos State University, Ojo, for her first degree in English Language.

In the course of her foray into partisan politics, she did a certificate course in Government and Politics at Harvard Kennedy School, USA and London Valley University, Slough, United Kingdom.

Hon Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet is also a pastor. She has a diploma in Religious Studies from Bible Faith Training Centre, Lagos. She has been a pastor for many years now.

She is a two-term member of Lagos House of Assembly, having contested and won twice the Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II seat since 2007.

A quintessential female lawmaker that has made her mark not only in legislative matters but through her contributions for the socio-economic development of her constituency and her constituents.

She is happily married with three children – two girls and a boy.

 

THE BOOK LAUNCH

Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet, used the occasion to launch her book, Casting Stone, which chronicles the challenges and triumphs of her 40 years. The book also tells what she has been doing to help the needy.

 

DIGNITARIES AT THE EVENT

The bash was supposed to be chaired by Mr. Tunde Ayeni, Chairman, Skye Bank Plc, who was unavoidably absent. He was, however, replaced by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon (GOS), who did a good job of steering the event.

Among other dignitaries that graced the occasion were Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Professor Modupe Adelabu, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Princess Sarah Sosan, the former deputy governor of Lagos State, Chief Lai Mohammed, the APC spokesman, Mrs. Florence Oguntuase, the Commissioner for Establishment and Training who represented Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Dr. (Mrs.) Yewande Adesina, the Special Advisr on Health and Aderemi Ibirogba.

 

FROM LAGOS HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY WITH LOVE

From Lagos House of Assembly came Rt. Hon. Adeyemi ikuforiji, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Taiwo, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bayo Adeyeye, Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, Hon. Moshood Osun, Hon. Kabir Lawal, Hon. Olayinka Ogundimu, Hon. Romaotallan Akinola-Hassan, Hon. Mufuau Egberongbe, Hon. Adijat Adeleye (from Ogun Assembly), Hon. Biola Badmus-Olujobi, Hon. Babatunde Jimoh, amongst others.

 

…FROM LASAWA TOO

The wives of Honourable members of the assembly were ably represented too. We saw the wives of Hon. Kolawole Taiwo, Hon. Bolai Yinosu-Ayinla, Hon. Rotimi Abiru, sitting close to her husband, Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi, who was also sitting close to her husband and many others.

 

WHEN K1 DE ULTIMATE SANG

Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe, aka K1 De Ultimate was also at the occasion. K1, aside being the patron of Peacock Group which Hon. Omowunmi Olatunji-Edet belongs, many believed he’s also very influential in her political career. So, when it was time for him to say one or two things about the celebrant, guests demanded that he should sing before leaving the stage and he did, which automatically enlivened the whole place. K1 sang happy birthday for her.

 

THE FRIENDS OF THE CELEBRANT

Many friends of the celebrant both from her constituency Oshodi-Isolo and House of Assembly were in the house. But the real friends of the celebrant, aka, Ore Oni Inowo were running around to make sure guests were okay. They included Hon. Ramotallahi Hassan, Alhaja Shade, Bisola Munis and Folake Obajimi.

 

FOOD DRINKS AND GIFTS

Guests certainly enjoyed themselves to their satisfaction with different types of foods and drinks. Many of them, including the special guests went home with expensive souvenirs.
