  1. JONATHAN’S AIDE, OKUPE DUMPS PDP

A former Senior Special Adviser on public affairs to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe has described the Peoples Democratic Party as a barren party that can no longer bear fruits. He disclosed this why announcing the resignation of his membership from the party on Sunday, July 2.

Okupe said that the party no longer exists as a single unified party, especially in his ward at Iperu-Remo, hence his decision to publicly announce his resignation from the party.

 

  1. GBAJABIAMILA GIVES 4 SUVS TO LUCKY CONSTITUENTS

Members of Surulere federal constituency were given a surprise package by the majority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. The lawmaker distributed four utility vehicles to his constituents after a raffle draw during the APC general assembly in Surulere ahead of the local government election.

The majority leader advised lagosians to go out en masse and vote for their representatives who will serve them well at the local government level.

 

  1. 100 SUSPECTED MEMBERS OF BADOO CULT GROUP ARRESTED BY POLICE IN LAGOS

The Badoo cult group which has carried out a number of killings in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state have finally been arrested. It was confirmed by the Lagos state government that 100 suspected members of the dreaded group, who often kill their victims with stones and leave without stealing anything are now in the custody of the police.

Meanwhile, the Lagos state government has asked residents to desist from carrying out jungle justice on suspected members of the gang.

 

  1. FRSC INTENSIFIES EFFORT ON USE OF SPEED LIMIT DEVICE

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has promised that it will not relent in ensuring that motorists make use of speed limit device in order to limit the number of speeds related accidents on Nigerian roads.

Oludare Ogunjobi who is the Deputy Zonal Corps Commander, FRSC Zone RS XI, stated this at the annual road safety week held at Ilesha unit command in Osun state, where school children participated in road safety training. The Ilesha unit commander, Samuel Oyedeji, added that the essence is to inculcate road safety measures in the psyche of the younger ones to guarantee a safety future and reduce traffic crashes.

 

  1. I HAVE NO HANDS IN SUIT AGAINST POLICE – EVANS

Suspected kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike has disclosed that he had no hand in the suit filed against the police to secure his release.

In a bid to withdraw himself from the claim, Evans said he was not even willing to leave the police custody because his victims had known him and would definately go after his life. He argued that he did not liaise with any lawyer or any party to file the suit on his behalf.

 

  1. YOUTH GAVE BUHARI 8-WEEK ULTIMATUM

A youth group, the Nigerian Youth Advocate for justice has given President Muhammadu Buhari an eight-week ultimatum to either resign or form an interim government following his absence from the country for more than 53 days.

The youth group’s chairman, Seriki Olorunwa, said that the health conditions of the president had made it impossible for him to govern the country. Though they pledged not to shed blood, they said if the president failed to comply with the ultimatum, it would lead seven million youths in 22 states to force him out of office.

 

  1. OLOWOOKERE WARNS AGAINST DIVERSION OF CONSTITUENCY ALLOWANCE

A member of the House of Representatives in Ondo state, Afe Olowookere has urged that constituency project funds be distributed to the right channels in order to complement projects executed by the state governments. He made the statement at the commissioning of projects he executed in some communities in Akure south and north local councils.

The APC lawmaker lamented that it is wrong for constituency project funds to be diverted to private pockets. He urged Nigeria politicians to always fulfill the promises they made while campaigning, in order for the actualizations of Nigeria’s vision.

 

  1. DESMOND ELLIOT LEADS CONSTITUENTS IN SUPPORT OF AMBODE

Some residents in Surulere local government area joined Desmond Elliot, their representative at the State House of Assembly to show appreciation to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the excellent service to the state in two years.

Celebrities and other members of Desmond Elliot’s constituency organized the walk to support their representative in the Lagos state House of Assembly and also commend the Lagos state governor’s effort towards development and wealth creation.

 

  1. PEACE RETURNS TO AJAPA COMMUNITY IN ONDO

Following a clash between military personnel and fleeing kidnappers and other criminals in Ajapa community in Ese-Odo local government of Ondo state, residents of the area were compelled to flee from their home during the crisis as many houses were destroyed. But peace appeared to have come their way as the state government presented some relief materials to the victims.

The state deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi who led government officials to the coastal community, urged the people to do their community a great service by reporting people of suspicious characters to the appropriate authorities. He added that members of the community should assist in flushing out criminals and their collaborators from the town.

 

  1. AISHA BUHARI VISITS AILING HUSBAND AGAIN IN LONDON

Aisha, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari at the weekend embarked on another trip to London to visit her husband who is currently receiving treatment in the United Kingdom for an undisclosed ailment.

A statement last night by Mrs. Buhari’s media aide, Suleiman Haruna said the first lady who flew out of Nigeria yesterday had a stop over in Addis Ababa to attend the meeting of African first ladies conference on HIV/AIDS scheduled for today and will continue the journey thereafter to London. He added that Mrs. Buhari upon arriving London later today will convey Nigerians’ prayers and speedy recovery to her husband.
