LAGOS DECLARES JUNE 12 PUBLIC HOLIDAY
The Lagos state government yesterday declared Monday, June 12, a public holiday to mark the 24th anniversary of June 12, 1993 Presidential election that was later annuled by the then Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.
In a statement signed by the secretary to the state government, Tunji Bello, Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said though the people’s hope was dashed with the annulment, the lessons of the election cannot be washed away despite all odds.
HOW EVANS MADE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM RANSOM – POLICE
The Lagos state Police Command on Sunday, June 11, 2017, paraded one of the most notorious kidnapping suspects in Nigeria, Chukwudi Onuamadike who was named the most wanted kingpin in February this year.
Mr. Moshood, a Chief Superintendent of police, said Mr. Onuamadike and his gang collects ransom of money in millions of dollars while some victims are kept for six to seven months until the last money is paid. The suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
ORDER ARREST OF YOUTHS – TEKAN
Tarayar Ekklisiyoyin Kristi A Nigeria (TEKAN) on Sunday, June 11, 2017 urges Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to instruct security operatives to ensure the arrest of youths and elder statesmen who gave three months quit notice to Igbos in the North.
The statement assured the Igbos that TEKAN loves them because they are the creation of God and strongly believe God has great plans for all mankind. The group called on Igbos to disregard the quit notice, urging all and sundry to unite irrespective of our religion for the betterment of Nigeria.
OGOGA APOLOGISES TO FAYOSE OVER OLUKERE’S ATTACK
The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Alagbado, has apologised to Governor Ayodele Fayose over alleged attack on him by the Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin over the state government’s plot to cut a sacred tree serving as sacrificial spot for the town.
In a statement made on Sunday 11th June, 2017, the Oba confessed that he was compelled to state the facts on the matter after refraining to join issues with him. However, the Ogoga and the chiefs​ deemed it necessary to apologize to the Governor, Ayodele Fayose and ​the entire people of Ekiti state.
SENIOR PASTOR BEATS LANDLADY TO DEATH
The senior pastor of God’s Foundation Life Bible Ministry in Anambra state has allegedly beaten his landlady to death. The pastor angrily pounced on the said landlady after she demanded her house rent from the pastor.
Angry residents of Abata Nsugbe area in the state destroyed the church only to find his shrine with charms and other diabolical items . When the State Police Relations Officer, Nkiruka Nwode was contacted, he said the police are already in search of the so called man of God.
SERGEANT OTU APPEALED TO NIGERIANS FOR HELP
The only survivor of the shoot out with armed robbers that robbed a Zenith Bank branch at Wetheral Road, Owerri, the Imo state capital is appealing to well meaning Nigerians for help.
The sergeant who lost one of his eyes after sustaining injuries during the gun exchange, said he was told by doctors that they were bullets in his skull and jaw and that urgent surgeries are needed. He further pleaded for support to enable him undergo the surgical operation.
BOKO HARAM LEADER CLAIMS VICTORY IN MAIDUGURI ATTACK
Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, claimed victory in last Thursday’s attack on Maiduguri, Borno state, boasting to use the arms allegedly seized by his men from fleeing soldiers to carry out more attacks on the city.
The 23 minutes video released via YouTube was preluded by a man in military combat uniform walking over a large cache of ammunition. He further said the war will continue for a long time as it would be passed from generation to generation, until the end of time. At the end, he made this statement: “We invaded Maiduguri and God has helped us to come out safely.” 

He finally said, they shall bring the war to the cities, for the war had just begun.
CJN ONNOHGEN’S HOUSE NOT RAIDED – SSS
The State Security Service (SSS) has denied that it raided the house of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnohgen. Although the SSS called the DSS, but they are yet to issue an official statement on the matter. A top official, however, disclosed that the report is false in its entirety.
The officer said “the entire report claiming that DSS has found close to $9M in the account of the Chief Justice of the Federation is complete falsehood and ​baseless insinuation. The NJC, however, recalled six judges last week, saying the security and anti-graft agencies have not been able to prove any crime against him.
NIGERIA SITS ON ‘TICKING TIME BOMB’ – SARAKI
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki who reacted to the statistics on out-of-school children released by the United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF) has​ described it as alarming and a ticking time bomb.
Mr. Saraki who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Sanni Onogu, on Sunday in Abuja said that the situation called for urgent attention by relevant stakeholders. He lamented that Nigeria has​ the highest number.

Meanwhile, he said he is already working with a few state governments​ which are yet to domesticate the Child’s Right Act.
PANEL DISQUALIFIES ONE OF TWO ASPIRANT IN APC
The All Progressives Congress screening committee has disqualified the Osun state commissioner for cabinet matters, Senator Mudashir Hussein, from participating in the primary election scheduled to hold on Monday to pick the party’s candidate for the by-election to fill the Osun-west Senatorial District vacant seat at the Senate.
The seat became vacant following the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke on April 23, and​ Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has​ fixed July 8 for the by-election. 

The committee cleared Adeleke’s younger brother, Ademola, for the primary election but told Hussein that he could appeal his disqualification. Hussein expressed confidence that the disqualification would be overturned by the appeal fund.
