I HAVE NO SCORES TO SETTLE – FAYOSE
Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State Governor has disprove the report that he and some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Southwest are having misunderstanding over the forth coming election of the National chairmanship of the party. He stated specifically that he had no scores to settle with the Ondo state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Chief Bode George, the former vice chairman of the party in Southwest.
Fayose while at a meeting held at the International event centre, Akure, the Ondo state capital on Wednesday charged leaders to embrace unity for the betterment of the party by electing responsible people with great ideas to run the affairs of the party at the forthcoming national convention.
JONATHAN’S COUSIN WANTS COURT TO ORDER HIS RELEASE
Robert Azibaola, has asked a Federal High Court in Lagos to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to charge him to court or release him from detention. Azibaola in a new file on his behalf by his counsel, Ebun-olu Adegboruwa urge the court to order the EFCC to release him immediately.
Azibaola who claimed that he is being detained based on his blood ties with former President Jonathan, warrant them to purposely keep him in detention. Although no date has been fixed for the hearing of the fundamental rights enforcement suit.
BUHARI YET TO RECEIVE CORRECTED 2016 BUDGET – FG
Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning had said that, as at Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari was still expecting the corrected version of the 2016 budget from the National Assembly, she gave assurance that the document would be transmitted today to the president.
At the end of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council, Ahmed spoke while briefing state house correspondence presided over by vice president Yemi Osinbajo. The minister said, the executive and the legislature are working hand in hand to resolve the budget impasse at its peak.
HOODLUMS ATTACKS POLICEMEN, STAB SERGENT
Hoodlums attacking and terrorizing the Elegbata area on the Lagos Island, Lukman Kayode 29, and 19 year-old Olusegun Ayanniyi, have been arrested after attacking some policemen, that a Sergeant Tunde Adeyemi was stabbed in the head during the attack.
Following a clash between two rival gangs in the community, policemen from the area A command, lion building marched marched to the area but however, Adeyemi was unlucky as they descended and beat him up. The police on arrival was able to apprehend two suspects. Although the suspects were however arraigned in court but the Magistrate ordered them to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till May 16, to decide on the bail.
APC LEADERS IN CLOSED DOOR MEETING
President Muhammadu Buhari is meeting privately with some of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the presidential villa, Abuja. In attendance are, the Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and the National Chairman of the party, John Odegie-Oyegun among others.
Though the reasons behind the meeting is not yet known, but it is believed to have been on controversial issues like the 2016 budget or the fulani herdsmen, amongst others, but maybe disclosed soon.
EX-MINISTER DESCRIBES ORDEAL WITH KIDNAPPERS
Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped last week Wednesday, has recount the seven days she spent with the abductors as “terrible and dehumanizing”. Narrating her encounter said, the courage and the fighting spirit of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in regaining her freedom was what kept her alive and strong.
She recalled she had to refute food served by the abductors, she stated that, she had been on water. She thank God and also appreciated the efforts of the governor, since no kobo was paid despite the huge demands of the kidnappers. She thank God that she is live and direct.
NORTHERN SENATORS WARN GOVS, OTHER LEADERS
Following the attacks by the Fulani herdsmen across Nigeria, senators from the north yesterday, warned governors, leaders and community heads in the country to desist from making statement that could further stir up the polity. This came as Defence Headquarters also, yesterday vowed that those involved in the killings of the innocent Nigerians be brought to book.
Rising from the meeting in Abuja, the lawmakers promised that, they would soon come up with strategies to promote the interest of Northern Nigeria in particular and the country at large. Governors from all states were, however, ask to support the Federal Government so as to find a lasting solution, as the fulani herdsmen attack people with equipped sophisticated weapons.
LAGOS APPROVES N49BN FOR MEDICAL PARK
The Lagos State government, yesterday agreed to the development of a medical Park worth N49 billion to improve health care experience and promote medical tourism in the state. Dr. Jide Idris, commissioner for health, said this at a news conference in Ikeja.
He said the approval had been given to Medipark International Limited to develop, control, manage and operate the medical park. He further said that, it would be located at the former Lagos State school of nursing in Ikoyi, Lagos. The facility will be built and completed in 20 months starting from the day of construction and it will serve as a one-stop shopping medical experience and provide a full spectrum of excellent high technology, Idris stated.
AKPABIO DISOWNS 2019 PRESIDENCY POSTERS
Chief Godswill Akpabio, the Senate minority leader and former governor of Awka Ibom State has urged Nigerians to condemn any publications in the social media about his purported posters campaigning to run for presidential elections in 2019, lamenting that they were the handiwork of mischief makers who wanted to create wrong impression.
Media Assistant to Akpabio, Mr. Anietie Ekong said, Akpabio had no ambition of contesting for the presidency in 2019, he is only concerned with working with other lawmakers to implement legislation that would improve the lives and uplift the standard in living of Nigerians for good.
RIVERS ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL RELOCATES TO ABUJA
The Rivers Election Petition Tribunal on re-run elections in the state in Port Harcourt, has moved to the High Court in Apo, Abuja Federal Capital Territory with immediate effect. This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the Secretary to the Tribunal.
The relocation however, was prompted as a result of insecurity in the state. Also in the same vein, the Election Petition Tribunal that handled petitions that arose from the 2015 general elections was also moved to the FCT. Mr. Gasau stated that, the secretariat had received 10 petitions from politicians, but did not give details.
