1. NJC SET UP PANELS TO PROBE TWO JUDGES

The National Judicial Council has constitute separate panels to investigate various allegations of misconduct against two Chief Judges, and 13 others.
But the NJC’s Director of Information, Soji Oye, who disclosed this on Monday, did not give the identities of the affected judges.
He said the decision was taken after considering the reports of two Preliminary Complaints Assessment Committees, on 46 petitions written against judicial officers in the federal and state judiciaries.
2. NRC TO BUILD 10 NEW RAIL LINES ACROSS NIGERIA
The Nigerian Railway Corporation has disclosed plans to construct ten new rail lines across the country to ease transport difficulties.
A report on the nation’s rail development released by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, says the planned rail lines will cut across cities such as Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Osogbo, Abuja, Benin, Kogi, Sokoto and Onitsha.
The Corporation, however, complained of poor funding of its various rail projects by the government.
3. BODE GEORGE TO OFFICIALLY DECLARE FOR PDP NATIONAL CHAIRMANSHIP ON FRIDAY
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, will on Friday, October 6, formally declare his ambition to run for the National Chairmanship position of the party.
The declaration which is scheduled to hold at the City Hall, Lagos, will be witnessed by notable stakeholders of the party across the country.
It was gathered that the declaration by George, is coming up after receiving the backing of stakeholders from the six geo-political zones.
4. NNAMDI KANU WANTS TO NEGOTIATE WITH NIGERIAN GOVT – LAWYER
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has asked to negotiate with the Nigerian government over the current agitation for Biafra, his lawyers, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amoebi Nzelu, have stated.
“Nnamdi Kanu is not averse to a political solution in resolving his present politically orchestrated ordeal,” Ejiofor said.
“He welcomes genuine political solution to this case. Nnamdi Kanu has people of proven integrity and impeccable character that will negotiate on his behalf, based on his demands when communication on this effect is established.”
5. NIGERIANS TO PAY N450, 000 FOR BYPASSING ELECTRIC METERS
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has declared that Nigerians who bypass their electric meters will be forced to pay a fine of between N50,000 to N450,000.
The financial sanctions have been drafted by the NERC and have been endorsed by the 11 electricity distribution companies operating in the country, and is ready to be signed.
NERC Vice Chairman, Sanusi Garba, said the amount being charged as financial sanctions depended on the class of power consumer.
The decision was made at the last monthly meeting of electricity operators.
6. NUPENG ELECTS NEW OFFICIALS FOR LAGOS ZONE
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers has elected new officials for offices of the Lagos zone of the union.
National chairman of the petroleum tanker drivers association stressed the need for truck drivers to support government in addressing challenges associated with loading petroleum products in Lagos.
For the chairman of the house committee on petroleum down stream, Joseph Akinlaja, said the ongoing repair works at the Apapa Oshodi expressway is a welcome development, he added that alternative holding bays must be provided by government.
7. PATIENCE JONATHAN TELLS BUHARI TO CALL MAGU TO ORDER
Nigeria’s former first lady, Patience Jonathan, has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari to call Ibrahim Magu, Chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to order.
According to her, Magu’s disposition towards the former First Family, is portraying the organization as an agency for revenge.
In a statement signed by her media aide Belema Meshack-Hart, Patience accused Magu of bias and intimidation, lamenting that he had been spreading barefaced falsehood and propaganda against her in the name of investigations.
8. FG GRANTS 3-YEAR TAX RELIEFS TO TSTV AFRICA
The Federal Government of Nigeria has granted a 3-year tax relief to the newly inaugurated Pay TV operator in the country, TStv Africa, as well as tax free dividends to all investors in the company.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced this in Abuja at a dinner to mark the official unveiling of the new company.
Mohammed, who performed the official unveiling of the new company and its products, said the tax reliefs were in line with the Pioneer Status recently granted to the Creative Industry by the federal government.
9. ALOT HAS IMPROVED WITH POWER SUPPLY – FASHOLA
Minister of Power Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has said a lot has improved with regards to power supply across the country.
Fashola was speaking at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry policy dailogue on the state of the power sector.
He affirmed that the Federal Government is committed to improving power supply adding that most of the challenges are being addressed strategically.
10. NIGERIAN ARMY SET TO LAUNCH OPERATION PYTHON DANCE III IN THE SOUTH EAST
Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 82 Division , Colonel Sagir Musa, has revealed that Operation Python Dance II will continue next year as Operation Python Dance III.
While addressing newsmen, he maintained that no resistance against the exercise will succeed since it is a regular military procedure.
When queried about the benefits of the exercise, he replied “Well, without being immodest, not only me, even you asking that question, you are satisfied . If you go to the police headquarters in all the states that Python Dance II is taking place, they will tell you that crime rate in the last few days has gone down.
