OLISA METUH SLUMPS IN ABUJA

Olisa Metuh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, had on Tuesday slumped and was rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja. The ill fated took place at the inauguration of the Yobe and Borno States caretaker committees at the Wadata Plaza party secretariat of the party located in the Wuse zone 5 district of Abuja.

He slumped during the event and was unable to move his body in the presence of all those in attendance including party members and journalist. It was confirmed that he is been treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the National Hospital.

 

EKWEREMADU LAMENTS OVER HERDSMEN ATTACK ON ENUGU COMMUNITY

The deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu had on Tuesday at the plenary, condemned the killings of unarmed Nigerians in Uzo-Uwani Council of Enugu state by suspected armed herdsmen. He called on an immediate solution to solve the unending crisis between the farmers and the cattle herdsmen.

He spoke under order 43 of the Senate standing orders to make a personal explanation over the conflict. Over 50 persons were confirmed dead, while over 2000 people displaced, as well as properties worth millions were destroyed. Ekweremadu however, plead the Senate to immediately come to the aid of the affected persons and proffer a lasting solutions.

 

1, 340 BEGGERS, DESTITUTE DISCHARGED OFF THE STREET

The Lagos State government had on Tuesday announced publicly that a total of 1, 340 beggers, destitute and mentally challenged persons were discharged off the streets of Lagos in the last one year and were helped to locate their various homes through various media platforms, for a better Lagos.

Speaking at the ongoing 2016 ministerial press briefing held at Alausa to mark the governor Akinwumi Ambode’s one year in office, commissioner for youths and social development, Pharm. Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said, the government has released and united the displaced persons to their relations and were subsequently placed on vocational training to make them contribute positively to the society.

 

SARAKI’S SSA ARRESTED

Special Assistant to the Senate President on youth and student matters and president of youth Council of Nigeria, Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has been arrested and held captive by the operative of the Department of State Service.

In a statement by his brother yesterday, Obinna Ikeagwuonu said Ikenga had informed his family about the invitation to him by the Assistant Director of Internal Security. The family has not seen or heard from him yet, since he entered the premises of the DSS and every attempt to have access to him prove abortive.

 

RESIDENTS ACKNOWLEDGE COUNCIL BOSS OVER ROAD REPAIR

The Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Egbe Idimu Area of Lagos State have thanked the council’s executive secretary, Kunle Olowoopeju, over the repair of the community road. Alhaji Salaudeen Idris, the Joint chairman had said that, landowners leave their property because of the bad road, he added that many had to park their vehicles faraway and walk home.

Chief Ebenezer Oladipupo Jebutu said, the community look unkept until the administration of Akinwumi Ambode. The community praised Olowoopeju for keeping his promise to the core. In his quest for the Chairmanship slot of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, the community had said it would stand by him as he is indeed a promise keeper.

 

APC URGES NIGERIANS TO PRAISE BUHARI

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed dissatisfaction on the attitude of Nigerians about president Muhammadu Buhari’s continuous overseas trips. They adviced Nigerians to always praise rather than condemn his act as it is most unfair and uncharitable to a man of his calibre, age and status.

The APC chieftain, however said, the president deserves remarkable commendations for travelling frequently at his age as he is sacrificing for the betterment of the country.

 

IG ORDERS BLACK MARKETERS ARRESTED

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase has given directives to the Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of police (AIG), FCT’s and other state commands Commissioner of Police (CP) to arrest anybody found selling Petroleum products (black marketers) in plastic containers. Adding that, the buyer and seller if caught would be arrested and prosecuted. The IGP assured the readiness of the police and urge citizens to cooperate and adhere to the force.

 

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD SEEK SPIRITUAL HELP – GANI ADAMS

The national coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams has urged the Federal Government to sort for spiritual solutions to all the nation’s economic predicament. He said this, at the grand finale of the annual Aje festival in Lagos.

He further stressed the need for the federal government to seek spiritual help from the deity Aje, that is in charge of fortunes and prosperity as it is the affinity between man and wealth. He lamented bitterly about the situation in Nigeria and ensure those in power deliver on their electoral promises to the people and that their words should be a measure of what they are worth.

 

DIFFERENCES RESOLVED WITH PRESIDENCY – SARAKI

After a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja yesterday, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, says all grey areas in the 2016 budget have been resolved after a meeting with the leadership and principal officers of the National Assembly to proffer solutions to the 2016 budget impasse.

Saraki said that, the lawmakers came to let the president and his team know the possible solutions they had found to the budget impasse and they both agreed. Hopefully, the process would be completed in few days to come, just to tidy up a few loose ends.

 

EX FINANCE MINISTER REFUNDS N140M, SURRENDERS 2 HOUSES

Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister who served as the Director of Finance for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential campaign organization, has returned N140 million out of the 2.5 billion and two of her houses to the federal government as a condition to free herself off the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The former minister might be released on bail, following a health challenge she is undergoing to seek medical attention. She is been questioned over various sum of money paid into her account including the 2.5 billion allegedly transferred out of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, into her account of which the EFCC sources had described as huge cash that came from the CBN.
