WE’RE NOT DEAF TO GRIEVANCES IN PARTS OF NIGERIA – OSINBAJO

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has again assured Nigerians that the Buhari administration is not deaf to grievances in parts of the country, adding that the government will address the issues soon. He urged that such grievances be expressed with grace.

This emerged from an updated statement from the Presidency on Tuesday, June 27, concerning the series of consultations the Acting president had with leaders from the North and Southeast. The Acting President expressed appreciation to all the leaders for their time and commitment to the unity, peace and progress of the Nigerian nations. He also assured the Nigerian people of the determination to ensure their well-being and security at all times.

 

NIGERIA LOSES 40% OF YAM PRODUCE TO POOR STORAGE

As Nigeria prepares to formally export its first shipload of yam tubers to the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA) on Thursday June 29, in its move to attract more foreign exchange, indications have emerged that the country loses about 40 percent of its total production to wrong preservation method.

Emmanuel Ijewere, Coordinator, Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) commend Federal Government’s move to export its yam tubers to UK and USA, describing it as good, as it would enable the country improve on its preservation methods which will lead to higher export and more foreign exchange in return. He further urged the regulatory body to ensure the country’s products are not rejected at the international market.

 

NNAMDI KANU STORMS PORT HARCOURT, GETS HEROIC WELCOME

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday, June 27, visited Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital. The IPOB leader was hailed in Igbo language by his admirers, and in return, he acknowledged the crowds’ cheer.

Although his mission to the oil-rich state is not yet known, IPOB has hinted that it will ride on the wings of the United Nations (UN) charters which allows groups seeking secession to exploit civil disobedience in achieving its mandate of Biafra.

 

GOVERNOR OBASEKI ACQUIRES COMMUTER BUSES 

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has rolled out more buses to the state in order to curb transportation problems for indigenes and non indigenes living, schooling and doing business in Edo state.

Obaseki further stated that the new development is his commitment to ensuring Edo residents have access to quality and affordable transport services across the state with ease.

 

OVER 2,000 PDP MEMBERS DEFECT TO APC IN RIVERS

No fewer than 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have joined the major opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state during an empowerment programme on Tuesday, June 27.

Welcoming the new decampees, a Chieftain of APC in the state, Dr. Sokonte Davies, who is a former member of the House of Representatives of Degema/Bonny constituency, described APC as the only party capable of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians. The chairman of APC in Degema noted that the defectors took the right decision of joining the focused party.

 

LAMBO, FORMER AGF OJO, OTHERS DENY ENDORSING SENATOR

Former Minister of Health, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), Mr. Tunde Ipinmisho (FNGE) and Major Gen. Julius Oshanupin (Rtd) have all denied endorsing embattled Senator representing Kogi west, Dino Melaye. They made their position known in a statement jointly signed by the four of them in Lokoja on Tuesday, June 27.

They were reacting to a statement issued by the Okun Development Initiative (ODI) which named them as signatories. They warned the ODI to stop using their names for cheap political gain, adding that, they demand an immediate retraction and an apology from those behind it.

 

GOV. MASARI TO ORGANISE SUMMIT ON LG FUNDING

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has expressed his administration’s readiness to organise a summit aimed at discussing how to ensure regular funding of local government in the state.

The Governor also opened up on the possibility of conducting local council elections in the state. He charged people in the state to be security conscious and report suspicious movement and activities around them.

 

POLICE ARREST SUSPECT WHO HANDED BAG TO 7 YEAR – OLD

A bomb scare close to the residence of Adamawa State Governor, Mohammed Jibrilla has caused police to cordon off a major road in the area. Security officers say some suspected Boko Haram militants handed a polythene bag to a seven – year – old to take to other children at the nearby Jimeta zoo.

The boy took the bag which had light blinking underneath but abandoned it by the road side, before rushing to inform some adults in the zoo. Eye witnesses say the suspected militants later took the bag after non of the children paid attention to it.

It was gathered that one of them was arrested and is now being interrogated.

 

LAGOS LG POLL: PARTY FAITHFUL RALLY ROUND APC CANDIDATES

Campaigns ahead of the Local Government election have begun in Ikoyi – Obalende Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

The campaign rally is intended to garner support for the candidacy of Fuad Atanda – Lawal and unite party faithful ahead of the polls. They maintained that they remain steadfast to the success of the party in the election.

 

AMBODE REITERATES GOVT’S COMMITMENT TO PROTECT RIGHTS OF CITIZENS

The Lagos State Government has pledged its commitment to protect and uphold the right of its citizens to freedom of belief and worship.

The Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Corporation, Benjamin Olabinjo who represented the governor at Ibeju Lekki Local Council Development Area during Eid prayers urged the people to sustain the spirit of love, tolerance and care.
