1. PRESIDENT BUHARI VISITS KADUNA, COMMISSIONS $150M OLAM FEED MILL

President Muhammadu Buhari had commissioned the $150 million Olam Integrated Feed Mill and Poultry in Kaduna state. Olam international is Nigeria’s largest integrated animal feed mills, breeding farms and hatchery. Like the WACOTLimited Rice Mill in Kebbi, the Olam Animal Feed Mill was conceived in 2016, completed and commissioned in 2017.
The company, constructed at 150 million dollars, consists of feed mill, hatchery and breeder farm, Olam’s Business Head, Vinod Mishra, said.
He had said the company would process 180,000 tonnes of corn and 75,000 tonnes of soya beans annually on feeds production, and would produce 360,000 tonnes of animal feeds yearly, adding that the company has a 50,000 tonnes of on-site storage and had outsourced similar storage volume.
2. BUKOLA SARAKI HINTS ON LEAVING NIGERIA SENATE
Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki on Tuesday said his major aim in the country’s parliament is to leave the National Assembly a better place.
A statement released by his spokesman, Yusuf Olaniyonu, said:
“However, what always motivates me is that drive to leave this institution better than we met it. “I always like to leave a place stronger than I met it, and more capable to deliver on its constitutional role and functions than how it was before I got there.
This is why I tell people that it is not about who the Senate President, the President, or the Chief Justice of Nigeria is, we must always work to strengthen all our institutions.
“If you have weak parliament that is not effectively able to champion the needs of the people, you will have a weak democracy,” he said.
3. NIGER-DELTA SUMMIT: 5 DELEGATES DIE IN AUTO CRASH
About five delegates to the second national council meeting of the Niger Delta holding in Igbokoda, the headquarters of the Local Government Area of Ondo State, die in motor accident on yesterday, Tuesday 12, September, 2017.
It was reported that the delegates, whose identities were not ascertained yet, were travelling from Akure, the state capital to Igbokoda for the summit which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was to preside over.
It was also gathered that four other delegates were injured in the accident that occurred at Ode-Aye on Ore Okitipupa Road.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the accident said it was caused by excessive speed.
4. SUSPECTED RIVERS RITUAL KILLER ARRAIGNED IN COURT AMID TIGHT SECURITY
Suspected ritual killer, Ifeanyichukwu Dike has appeared in a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court to face a one count charge of murder for the alleged ritual killing of 8-year old Chikamso Mezuwuba.
Ifeanyichukwu arrived the Rivers State Judiciary complex under very tight security in order to forestall another escape but the Chief Magistrate Court declined jurisdiction to hear the matter and referred the case file to the Department of Public Prosecution, DPP for legal advice.
Despite the high profile nature of the case, the defense team has expressed hope that the trial would not be influenced by public opinion.
Pending advice from the DPP, the magistrate court also ruled that the accused person be remanded in prison custody while the case was adjourned indefinitely.
5. FRESH MEETING BETWEEN FG AND DOCTORS END IN DEADLOCK
The strike by resident doctors may last longer than anticipated by government, as another meeting between both parties has again been deadlocked.
The meeting lasted from dusk to dawn today, even as talks are expected to resume anytime from now.
Government and the doctors are meeting to review the offer authorities made to the striking doctors, when they last met.
The doctors are demanding the payment of salary arrears, and an improvement on their working conditions. The strike, which started last week, has crippled activities at public hospitals across Nigeria.
6. FOUR KIDNAPPED IGBONLA STUDENTS RESUME ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
Four out of the six abducted students of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, have resumed academic activities.
The students were kidnapped on May 25th and were released by their abductors on July 23rd.
The returnee students are Judah Agbaosi, Faruq Yusuf, Isoaka Ramon and Peter Jonah. They expressed their joy in returning to school after their horrific experience while in captivity.
One of the students, Judah Agbaosi, who spoke with newsmen, believes the experience will not repeat itself.
“I resumed on Monday and feel very happy to be back. I can tell you that I’m very okay and know that nothing bad will happen again.”
The management of the school says they have increased the level of security in the school to stop any future reoccurrence.
7. ARMY APOLOGISES FOR INVASION OF ABIA NUJ SECRETARIAT
The Nigerian Army says it is saddened by news of an attack on journalists by some persons suspected to be military personnel in Umuahia on Tuesday morning.
According to the spokesman of the Nigerian Army 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi, the military high command will investigate the cause of the incident.
Journalists allege that some soldiers, on a ‘show of force’ halted their convoy, jumped out of their trucks and headed for the NUJ office at No. 1 Aba Road, Umuahia.
There, the detachment of military operatives, believed to be troops of “Operation Python Dance’ manhandled journalists, destroying their equipment and mobile devices.
8. GOVERNOR IKPEAZU DECLARES CURFEW IN ABA AS SOLDIERS BESIEGE CITY
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has declared a three-day curfew in the commercial city of Aba following heightened tension.
The curfew which started on Tuesday, September, 12 will elapse on Thursday, September 14  and will begin from 6pm to 6am.
Ikpeazu , who spoke with newsmen at the Government House, Umuahia , noted that the state had noticed the misunderstandings between some groups in the state, especially IPOB members and men of the Nigerian Army.
He urged residents of the state to remain law-abiding and go about their lawful business without fear of molestation.
Ikpeazu warned the people against confrontation with military personnel or other security agents, saying the military operation was meant to check criminal activities in the state .
9. ONE KILLED AS TROOPS, IPOB MEMBERS CLASH IN RIVERS
One person was killed on Tuesday as soldiers clashed with the secessionists at the Timber area of Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was gathered that trouble started when some IPOB members began to gather at Timber in the Oyigbo LGA with a view to embarking on a journey to Umuahia for a solidarity rally in support of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
It was learnt that the soldiers asked the IPOB members to leave the place but the members resisted by insisting that they were waiting for some of their colleagues before moving to Umuahia.
The situation, according to a source in Oyigbo , degenerated as soldiers and some IPOB members engaged one another in a shootout .
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr . Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the tension in Oyigbo, but said the police were still gathering information on the level of casualty during the clash.
10. EFCC DISCOVERS PATIENCE JONATHAN’S N6BN ABUJA PLAZA
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has discovered an uncompleted eight – storey building in a prime area of Abuja allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan .
The building, which has been described by the EFCC as a ‘magnificent architectural edifice’, has not yet been valued by the commission .
However, comparative analysis of similar buildings on several trading sites such as OLX.com and Jiji. ng, within the same area put the worth of the building at N6bn .
However, the commission further stated that it had written to the Abuja Geographical Information System to get the history of the property and how and when it was bought .
