1. BA SACKS AIR HOSTESS OVER VIDEO INSULTING NIGERIAN PASSENGERS

British Airways has sacked an air hostess whose video insulting Nigerians went viral after being placed on Instagram. Joanne Wickenden, 23-years-old, was sacked by the airline Tuesday following a two hour meeting.

“She no longer works for British Airways. We expect the utmost professionalism from our staff when they are representing British Airways,”. The 23- year- old , who wants to be an actress, told friends , “ I am not a racist, ” and claimed the sickening video was “ just a joke . ”
2. SENATE RESUMES FROM 2-MONTH RECESS
The Senate and the House of Representatives have both resumed work, after a two-month recess.
The senate had a two-hour closed session, after which it declared that Nigeria’s unity is non-negotiable.
The senate also resolved to look for a way of restoring peace in all parts of the country.
This is coming weeks after members of the Indigenous People of Biafra clashed with soldiers on Operation Python II, in Aba, Abia State.
3. ADEOSUN, UDOMA SUMMONED BY SENATE OVER POOR IMPLEMENTATION OF 2017 BUDGET
The Nigerian senate has summoned Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun and Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, to brief it on the implementation of the 2017 Appropriation Act.
The motion “request that the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Budget and National Planning appear before the Senate in plenary immediately to brief the Senate on the cause of the inadequate releases and steps being taken to release funds for the capital component of the 2017 Appropriation Act.”
4. PDP KICKS AS FAYOSE SET TO DECLARE 2019 PRESIDENTIAL AMBITION
The Peoples Democratic Party has told Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State not to waste his resources on his presidential ambition, saying the party’s candidate for the 2019 election will come from the North.
The party said all its members were aware of the zoning formula it adopted for both its presidential ticket and the position of the national chairman.
Fayose had sent letters to some leaders of the party to inform them about his decision to run for the Presidency on the platform of the PDP.
The event, according to the governor will hold in Abuja on Thursday.
5. FIRE RAZES HOME OF TRIPLE MG BOSS, UBI FRANKLIN
Ubi Franklin, boss of Made Men Music Group (Triple MG) home, has been razed by fire.
The music executive shared the story on Instagram on Tuesday.
He wrote, “Woke up this morning and my house was on fire, I had to do what I could to bring it down. House on fire this morning, thank God for saving me.”
Ubi recently launched an online Laundromat service ‘Instant Pick-Up’ in Lagos and Abuja with Annie Idibia, Tokunbo Tboss Idowu and others as brand ambassadors.
6. INEC OFFICIALS STORM NATIONAL ASSEMBLY FOR DINO MELAYE
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday arrived the National Assembly Complex to notify the embattled lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, on the petition the commission received from his constituents to recall him.
The officials, who dropped loads of documents at the door to Melaye’s office, waited while the lawmaker was in the Senate chamber.
As at the time, Senator Melaye’s office was under lock and key, while his aides were not around to receive the notice.
7. POLICE CAPTURE TOP BOKO HARAM COMMANDER IN ONDO
The military authorities announced on Tuesday that a high-value target in the Boko Haram war has been captured by the police in Ondo State.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka, made the announcement in a statement in Maiduguri.
According to the spokesman, Idris Ibrahim Babawo, a top Boko Haram commander, is identified as number 156 in the Boko Haram wanted list.
Babawo, 42, who also goes by the name Idoko or Nagada, was captured while trying to evade arrest.
However, the jihadist had since been handed over to the military.
8. THE OKOYES FINALLY SPLITS WITH A FIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR LAWYER
The singing duo, Psquare had a fight in their lawyer’s office following the ongoing disagreement and split of the group.
The fight, allegedly recorded in a video currently trending on the internet showed Paul and Peter Okoye with their elder brother and manager, Jude Okoye in the lawyer’s office.
Jude, whose wife gave birth to a baby girl Monday, was seen threatening to beat up Peter who was behind the camera while Paul was heard telling Peter, “shame on you.”
Hours after the video began to trend online, Paul took to his twitter handle @rudeboypsquare to respond; “Wow!!!! And he finally released the all mighty video lol.”
9. WHAT SENATORS TOLD ABARIBE ABOUT NNAMDI KANU, IPOB YESTERDAY
South east senators were reportedly questioned by some of their colleagues for giving candid support to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to reports, the accusations were made at a closed session yesterday after an extended annual break.
The senators put main blame on the chairman of the South east caucus, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP, Abia) for standing surety for the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
At the closed door session, some described his action on Nnamdi Kanu as as “un- senatorial.”
10. BUHARI RIGHT NOT TO REVEAL AILMENT DESPITE USING STATE FUNDS FOR TREATMENT – LAI MOHAMMED
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has the right not to reveal his ailment despite treating himself with state funds, Information Minister, Lai Mohammed has stated.
“It’s not strange at all for a sitting president to be ill and it’s not strange either for the state to take care of his medical bill,” he said on Tuesday.
“I think there’s so much speculation as to what he’s been treated for.
“I think we would rather respect his privacy. If Mr. President feels like telling the world his ailment, so be it. I don’t think he’s under an obligation to tell anyone.
