Reluctant to reveal anything about the secret court wedding, the famous film maker pleaded with us to respect her privacy, especially when her husband is a very private person.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s investigations however, revealed that the registry wedding held here in Lagos.  We further learnt that Emem Isong’s husband who is not based in Nigeria, has no other wife before her, meaning he met the Akwa Ibom prolific film director while still very much single.

As secret as it goes, we couldn’t track any known face that attended the wedding of the newest bride in town.  But it is likely her kid sister and co-producer at Royal Arts Academy, Mrs. Uduak Isong-Oguamanam and some of her buddies in the industry witnessed the special moment in her life.

The news of Emem’s secret wedding last weekend went viral on the social media with her fans and associates, wondering if it was a mere speculation, but the multiple award winning film-maker has now broken her silence, confirming she has indeed finally got married to a Camerounian.  She also explained it’s supposed to be a very private and ‘small’ thing while the wedding proper would follow soon.

Film producer, script writer and CEO, Royal Arts Academy, Emem Isong cut her teeth in movie production in 1994 with the flick, Jezebel, a co-production with the late Francis Agu. The ex-banker and University of Calabar graduate of Theatre Arts moved on to produce her debut solo film, Breaking Point in 1996.

Nollywood obviously knew she was around when she spent seven solid years producing for popular marketer, Remmy Jez. A collaborative venture that gave birth to flicks like Behind Closed Doors, Games Men Play, Games Women Play, Critical Decision…she instantly became a household name in the industry.

Taking a short break to have her baby, Emem Isong returned as an independent producer with Reloaded in 2008.  Her other critically acclaimed films include, Weekend Getaway, Mrs. Somebody, Lagos Cougars, Apaye, Forgetting June, Lonely Heart, Visa Lottery, Knocking on Heaven’s Door (a co-production with Ini Edo for Achievas Entertainment).  On Bended Knees (co-produced with Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha).  There is also Blind Promise (co-produced with Susan Peters) and Darima’s Dilemma, which she made with Mbong Amata, among others.

With a lot of commercially viable jobs under her belt in the last 20 years, the movie amazon has since been adjudged the most prolific Nollywood producer, churning out an average of one movie per month (including co-productions) since 2013!

Of the Ibibio tribe in Akwa Ibom State, Emem has a son from a crashed relationship.  The delectable and reserved lady had been on the quiet side, romance wise, until she secretly tied the knot with a Camerounian, Akama Misodi whom she is not ready to talk about now, until their wedding proper.
