Torrents of eulogy trail Dimgba Igwe’s death (8): ‘He was a gift to his generation’  – Mrs.  Maduka Odor, sister-in-law

How would you describe Dimgba Igwe?

Dimgba was my in-law.  He was a total and complete gentleman.  A man that had the fear of God.  He was so compassionate and patient.  The courage he had of God was the most important thing in his life and that was what helped him to grow this far.  He meant everything to us, he was a man you would want to emulate in all ramifications.  I looked at him as a man that God made and just delivered him on this planet earth.  Dimgba never went to a secondary school. He made himself what he was. He was able to develop that gift that God gave to him and he used that gift to affect humanity.  I don’t have enough words to describe the kind of person he was.  Yes, he has left us but what keeps us going is that, he is resting with the Lord and also we know that, that which he has started, that is the legacy that he left behind will continue to speak for him.  Dimgba cannot die, he is living because he has impacted lives, so there is no how Dimgba will die.

As far as those he impacted in are alive, he is living, he is our role model but unfortunately, we cannot question God.  We can only desire for him to be alive because he still has a lot to do not just for the family, the church, Nigeria but for the whole world because he was a rare gem.  He was a gift to this generation. He was a man you could wake at any point in time and he would be ready to answer anything you ask him as if he has read that topic before.

What would you miss about him?

I would miss everything about him most especially his humility, because he was so humble and compassionate.

When last did you see him and your last memories together?

I saw him on August 1 and 2, 2014, at his residence because we had a family wedding to attend. I left my house with my sister to his residence because we had planned to attend the wedding together. I entered his room, chatted with him and even mimicked myself and his wife who is my sister, in our local dialect.  He was always at home and I enjoyed every moment with him.
