Toyin Majekodunmi was being treated for typhoid – Insiders disclose veteran actress’ last days

The death of veteran Nigerian actress, Toyin Majekodunmi, popularly called Iya Kike, has made the industry sour. She died on Monday, January 2, 2017.

According to a reliable source, Mr. Taiwo Oduola disclosed to encomium.ng during a visit to her family house that she has been battling with sickness prior to her death. She was first taken to a private hospital before she was transferred to a General Hospital, Gbagada. She was rushed to the hospital by her children, Yetunde Wunmi and myself.

Speaking further, he said she was supposed to have a test in a centre at Oshodi by 10am but she died about 9am. She was being treated for typhoid prior to her death. In describing the deceased, he said, “l don’t know where to start from. If I should start now, I would continue to be crying. She would call you on the day of your birthday, greet you and even pray for you including during festive periods. She virtually remembers everybody’s birthday as if we were her children. She was so considerate of everybody.”

Her burial is schedule to hold on March 2 and 3, 2017. Plans for having the Christian wake Keep and artists night is being decided upon. The reason for the March burial is due to the absence of the deceased’s husband, Solomon Majekodunmi (a.k.a Baba Kekere), a prominent Yoruba actor.
