Tribute to Disu 4: ’The most painful goodbyes are the ones never said or never explained’ – Shade

The 8th day fidau of Mr. Tajudeen Ajibola Babatunde Disu (October 18, 1951 – October 12, 2015) on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island (Lagos) attracted family, friends, associates and well-wishers.

For the departed boss of Lagos Free Trade Zone, a cascade of eulogies flowed his way.

And from his wife, children and in-laws, and the Lagos State governor (Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode), moving tributes echoed…

You did not get the chance to say goodbye. A relationship that spanned 50 years just ended abruptly. It is not supposed to be like that. We met when we were too young to know what we were doing or where we were going. The friendship blossomed and worked despite all odds, we were supposed to live together to the proverbial ‘ripe old age’ to witness the important milestones in the lives of our children.

Alas!! You were cut down prematurely by agents of wickedness and corruption, for your boldness and courage to stand and speak out against fraud, corruption and injustice.

Words cannot describe how I feel right now. Our plans, our plans for the nuclear and extended family, your hope and aspirations, your vision for the Free Trade Zone have all been truncated by greedy and hopeless people. How am I supposed to carry on without your driving force and energy behind me?

You were a caring, generous man who was always willing to give all of yourself to help others. The word, ‘Impossible’ was never in your dictionary. We will all miss hearing ‘Don’t Worry’ your regular response to all situations.

Who will wake us up in the morning? Your loud boisterous voice on the phone early in the morning was our alarm clock.

I will give anything to hear that annoying shout of Shade from the living room now!

It breaks my heart that I will never hear you shout my name again.

I give God the glory for the wonderful life you lived. I believe that God has His reasons for whatever He allows to happen in our lives. You died for a cause you believed passionately in.

You could not be stopped from speaking against corruption in life, now in death your detractors will make your voice speak louder for you.

I believe that the truth will eventually come out no matter how long it takes.

Please give my love to Suleiman-  Oba, now the two of you can get together and have a Boys Night.

May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, Sun re Ayinla Agbe!

By your ever loving wife,
