Trouble in late Ademola Adeniji-Adele ‘s home as son-in-law is attacked during condolence visit

Certainly, all is not well between the families of late Adeniji Adeniyi-Adele and his son-in-law, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, the former chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Council.

Comrade Ayodele Adewale was attacked when he paid condolence visit to his father in-law’s residence on Friday, May 6, 2016. He said he knew he was going to be attacked because Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele, his father in-law’s younger brother had earlier harassed his parents when they paid similar condolence visit to the family house the previous day and therefore made up his mind not to go his in-law’s residence.

But Chief Demola Seriki and Chief Ajayi Obembe, the Obanikoro of Lagos prevailed on him to go.

Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele denied being behind the attack. He said although he initially prevented him from coming into the house, but he eventually allowed him in when other family members prevailed on him.

He, however, did not have good remarks to make about Comrade Ayodele Adewale, who he said is a manner-less attention seeker.

PRINCE ADELANI ADENIJI-ADELE

PRINCE ADELANI ADENIJI-ADELE 1-Fullscreen capture 592016 51440 PMIs it true that you prevented Comrade Ayodele Adewale parents from paying condolence to you?

Let me tell you, as far as I am concerned, they are not my in-laws.

They are not your in-laws?

As far as I, Adelani Adeniji-Adele, is concerned, they are not my in-laws.

Why did you say so?

Before my brother died there were hiccups in the family here and there. There was a particular time Demola got down to greet him (Adewale’s  father). Demola had his 60th birthday, where he advertised it in newspaper that people should pray for him, they (Adewale family) did not show up. Until he travelled, they didn’t show up. Now that the guy died, what are they coming for? This is somebody you quarrelled with all your life. They were not talking to anybody in the family. They were abusing him all over as if he made a mistake giving his daughter to them.

When I saw him there I was infuriated. I asked the guy what the hell he wanted here. The guy had a birthday you didn’t come. Before the guy went to India, you didn’t come.

They knew his condition. The guy was sick, they knew he was going for a transplant, and it is 50/50 thing, yet they were fighting with him. So, when he now died what are they coming here to do?

They are not good parents, quote me.

Ti omo ba ja pelu ania, they shouldn’t add to it. They should try and come in and make peace. They added to it and inflamed it.

What then are they coming here to do?

Yes, I asked the guy (Comrade Adewale Ayodele) to get out. Later, people begged me and that I should allow him to come in. I said fine, since everybody wants you to come in, you can come in. He came in and greeted our eldest brother who was by my side. He sat down for about three minutes, he was so uncomfortable. Then he left. Nobody talked to him.

Yes, I accosted him outside but I was prevailed upon to allow him to come inside and he came inside.

I read what he said in the Nation Newspaper. The guy is just looking for cheap publicity. He is ingrate and he is empty. He is empty; all he wants is cheap publicity. That is what he is looking for.

But he is still married to your niece?

Yes, he is married to my niece no doubt about that. But that has not stopped him from insulting his wife’s father.

In Yoruba land, you don’t insult your father in-law and when he now died you now want to come and greet his people. Omo Yoruba le mi (I am from Yoruba land). I don’t have any apology for him.

I don’t know how he was attacked but I know he has issues with Amuwo Odofin people. Won le ka kiri ni (they are pursuing him all around). Anywhere he is they will go after him. All the noise he is making and shouting my name is just for cheap publicity.

I have told people they should not take him serious. He is a manner-less boy.

Comrade Adewale Ayodele sent his response through ‘whatsapp’

Comrade Adewale Ayodele 1-Fullscreen capture 592016 51150 PMOn getting the information about the death of Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, members of my family met and decided that my father and mother should lead a delegate to commiserate with the Adele family on Thursday, May 5, 2016.

My father went and on getting to their family house, he was attacked by Prince Adelani Adeniji-Adele who shouted at him that he should leave their house. This was happening when my wife walked out of the house and confronted Prince Adelani, telling him not to destroy her marriage or insult her father in-law. She was joined by Dr. Adeniji-Adele, the first born of Oba Adeniji-Adele, who came to beg my father while appealing to him to come in and meet other members of their family.

On that very day, Sultan Adegbayibi Adeniji-Adele had said that he will lead boys to attack me anytime I come to visit the family house or at the funeral.

I had concluded not to visit the place until Chief Demola Seriki called from Texas, United States of America to great my wife and also begged that I should visit the Adele family because of posterity.

I replied that it will be difficult for me having gotten information on what some of them had planned. He insisted, and I said I will think about it.

At about 10 am, I got a telephone call from Chief Ajayi Obembe, one of the white cap chiefs in Lagos that he was at the residence and that I should come over. I replied that I have great respect for him but I was sorry because I had gotten information of a plan to attack me, so I refused.

He then came to my house with my wife begging me to follow him. He was with me for over one hour. I then followed him because I did not want to be seen as a difficult person. On our arrival at the Adele family house, after the party chairman of APC in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Council, Alhaji Adewunmi and Emmanuel Uba (aka Onwa) led some hoodlums, members of the Community Policing Youth Vanguard to attack me and my NSCDC security guard.

The next thing I did was to call the Area E commander of the Nigeria Police for back up and also informed the state party chairman of the APC, Otunba Henry Ajomale, Chief Demola Seriki and other APC chieftains telling them what had happened.

I have made my statement at the Area E command of the Nigerian Police.

Chief Soji Ajayi Obembo also made his statement with the police with the one other family member of the Adeniji-Adele (a lady).

The DPO of Festac Town Police station was sent down to the crime scene by the Area Commander.
