Tunisian group wins Nobel Peace Prize

The Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet consisting of workers, employers, lawyers and human rights activists have won the Nobel Peace Prize for pulling the country that sparked the Arab Spring back onto a path toward democracy and preventing it from descending into civil war.

They were cited for their decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy by the Norwegian Nobel Committee who said the TNDQ established an alternative, peaceful political process at a time when the country was on the brink of civil war.  The TNDQ which has four organizations within (Tunisian General Labour Union; Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts; Tunisian Human Rights League and Tunisian Order of Lawyers) won $960,000 and the award would be presented on December 10, 2015.
