UDUAGHAN’s likely successor, SIR TONY OBUH declares for 2015 guber race

IT was a gathering of who is who in the politics of Delta state on Friday, November 7, 2014, as former Permanent Secretary (PS) of Government House, Sir Tony Chuks Obuh formally declared his ambition to run for the governorship on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015.

The event held at Cenotaph, Asaba, Delta State, no doubt, proved that the Agbor, Delta born politician enjoys robust support from all corners of the state.

The occasion attracted people, especially party supporters from different tribes.  Each of the communities in the state was fully represented.  Traditional rulers were not left out.

Also at the rally were some members of the state cabinet, federal and state lawmakers from various constituencies in the state and many more.

The quality of the crowd at the venue of the declaration showed that Obuh will surely be an aspirant to beat during the primary election that will hold very soon.

According to a political observer in the state, Obuh is likely to carry the day as he has been endorsed by party elders from all cultural backgrounds in Delta State.

“It’s obvious now that Tony Obuh is going to be the next governor of our state. If you noticed the quality of people at the rally, you will agree with me that the game is over for the rest of the aspirants.

“Obuh is from Delta North senatorial district where the next governor will come from based on PDP zoning arrangement.  And Delta belongs to PDP.  And other aspirants from the zone don’t enjoy support from other zones.  But Obuh’s popularity cuts across the three senatorial districts.  I learnt he has been endorsed by the South-South political leader, Edwin Clark.  So, his chances of succeeding his boss, Governor Uduaghan are very bright.”

Obuh, who addressed the mammoth crowd pledged to continue the good work of the incumbent governor, Uduaghan if given the chance to succeed him.  “I am overwhelmed with joy, seeing all of you here today.  It’s a sign that you all love and embrace me.  I pledge to continue the good work of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan if I become the governor of the state.  And I hope you will give me the chance to be the party’s flagbearer in the 2015 governorship election.”
