Update on night club fracas of Davido’s bouncer

PARTIES involved in the Sunday, November 3, 2013, fracas at Grotto Night Club, Victoria Island, Lagos, have decided to move on with life and forget the past.  The two parties – hip-hop singer, David Adeleke, a.k.a Davido’s camp and Abiola Adegoke’s Grotto Night Club – were said to have put the issue behind them.

On Sunday, November 3, 2013, Davido’s bouncer, Tijani Olamilekan Ogbeide (Teejay) had a brawl with DJ Jide (Jaydee), Grotto Night Club DJ at the club.  Different accounts of what transpired at the scene surfaced but witnesses claimed the whole thing started when it was noticed Davido’s ATM card was missing.  And while Grotto DJ, who helped in finding the card wanted to personally hand it over to Davido, his bouncer, Teejay wouldn’t allow that.  And exchange of hot words ensued.  Before any other thing, fun had been disrupted at the upscale hangout while fun seekers scampered to safety.  Davido’s management had released a statement debunking the artiste’s camp caused the fracas.  The bouncer, Teejay was stabbed in the brawl and police at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) were called in.

Grotto Night Club’s staff were picked up and detained while Barrister Fred Agbaje was contacted to secure

their release, which was done the same day.  While many were waiting for legal fireworks to follow suit, the parties indicated they were not interested.  Grotto Night Club’s publicist, Mr. Owolabi told ENCOMIUM Weekly, “Abiola Adegoke is not interested in seeking legal redress over the disruption of business at his night club by Davido’s and his men.  He didn’t even say he would sue them.  He is a businessman and they (Davido’s camp) are his customers.  So, there is no attempt at seeking legal redress.”

News went to town weeks back about the fracas at Grotto Night Club on Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos.  The incident was between the club’s DJ, Jaydee and one of Davido’s bouncers popularly called Teejay.  Those present at the scene claimed they had to run for their dear lives when bottles started flying around.
