‘Yes, we’re in love; but it’s too early to talk marriage’
FORMER Big Brother Africa (BBA) winner, Uti Nwachukwu has confirmed finding love! And the lucky lady is budding R n’ B singer and songwriter, Seun Oni, better known as Saeon.
In an exclusive phone chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Sunday, February 16, 2014, Uti said it is true he is seeing Saeon, though they are taking it “one step after the other.”
“We don’t know how it came to the knowledge of the public. Saeon likes her privacy just like me, too.”
On how they met and fell in love, Uti said it was sometime in 2012, when Saeon was about to shoot her music video. He explained that a mutual friend of theirs facilitated their liaison, which is now growing so, so fast.
Uti who didn’t rule out the possibility of walking down the aisle with the highly gifted singer said it was rather too early to think in that direction.
Asked to state what he cherishes most about his lover, Uti said, “She is hard working, focused and understanding.”
Those close to Saeon agreed with the handsome actor and TV presenter, revealing how she practically stops him from picking her bills even when they travel out of the country.
When this reporter reminded Uti that Saeon is not from his tribe, he laughed it off, insisting “this is 2014.”
“I care about her heart, not her tribe.”
Uti and Saeon have been running things before now. He featured in her first video, Lie. She also wrote the song, Bust my Brain for Uti.
Saeon began singing at 4. She went professional in 2009. She is into alternative R n’ B, rock, pop and a bit of rap. Saeon was the maiden winner of The Underground which showcases up and coming artistes. With over 50 song writing credits, her most popular songs include Burst my Brain, Awada Erekere, Jara, Nek in Nek, Ara Remix, Recover from you, featuring Falz, I’ll be gone…
Saeon was bitter with the needless comparison with Nollywood actress turned singer Tonto Dikeh, sometime last year. “This is utter rubbish. I don’t spend ample time tryna put together the best lyrics and melodies just to hear that a product of mine sounds Tonto Dikeish! I’m get compared to Tiwa Savage, Britney Spears, the likes of Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade but comparing me to Tonto Dikeh? You musta bump your head,” she tweeted @iam_saeon.
But since then, nothing much has been heard from the self-acclaimed hot singer, NAFDAC and Path to Possibilities ambassador. She would, however, be in the news now she is an item with the former BBA winner who is by nature a social butterfly.
