British Home Secretary, Theresa May has warned doctors who carry out “designer vagina” cosmetic surgery that they could be committing a criminal offence.
In her report to Parliament, she noted that some of the surgeries are illegal unless there is a physical or mental health justification, adding that prosecution could take place even if the woman had given her consent to the surgery.
Such operations, which include procedures to reduce the size of the labia, tighten the vagina and increase the size of the “g-spot”, have become increasingly common in recent years.
She added that the courts could be asked to rule whether “purely cosmetic surgery” is a crime in the same way as female genital mutilation.
