Van Gaal admits he inherited a “broken” squad at Manchester United

Manchester United’s new manager – Louis Van Gaal – has claimed he inherited a “broken” team at the club.

The former Dutch national team manager said, “When there is success you have a very good squad, now I have to follow and the squad was broken, I think”.

He, however, admitted that there is quality in the squad as he made references to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, as well as Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

The Premier League heavyweights finished seventh last season – their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League era.
