Vetland College wins Felabration’s schools debate 

Vetland College, Ifako-Ijaye’s Oluwatobi Odebowale, has emerged the winner of FELABRATION 2017 Secondary Schools Debates held on Wednesday October 4, 2017, Inside the Freedom Park, Lagos. He won an Hp laptop & a boomplayer android phone for himself and he reasoned that AFRICAN HISTORY CURRICULUM IS A NECESSITY in our schools. Ten secondary schools, made up of five private/public schools each debated the topic, AFRICAN HISTORY CURRICULUM, NECESSITY OR NOT. 
Oke-Odo Senior Secondary School, Agage, Lagos, represented by Esther Aluko, came second while Dayo Ogunsola of Vivian Fowler Memorial School for Girls, Ikaja, Lagos, was third. The second place winner went home with a Samsung tablet while a Techno Tablet went to the third place winner. 

These top three debaters also carted away some gifts from boom-play music.
However, all the participating schools, went back with a set of Yamaha Drums each, as gifts for coming from the FELABRATION ORGANISING COMMITTEE. The other schools, outside the winning top three, are King’s College, Lagos, Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, Cayley College, Ikeja, Lagos, Ogudu Senior Secondary School, Ogudu GRA, Lagos, Apata Memorial College, Lagos, Epe Girls Senior Secondary School, Epe, Lagos and Wesley Girls Secondary School, Lagos.
The judges of the day were Kunle Bakare, (Publisher of Encomium Magazine), Jumoke Alawode-James, (Communicator), Wale Ojo, (Actor), Dakore Akande, (Actress/Publicist) and Adesuwa Oyenokwe, (Communications Expert).
The Secondary Schools Debates is the segment of FELABRATION targeted primarily at the youths. An academically stimulating content for young minds. A deliberate attempt at waking up the consciousness of FELA’S Pan African teachings in the youths.
This marks the official beginning of the FELABRATION 2017, dubbed the “Prophecy”, an edition that commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the passing away of FELA. The main weeklong event runs from Monday, October, 9 to Sunday 15, 2017. The opener is the much publicised lecture by Prof. Patrick Lumumba from Kenya on Monday inside the multi purpose hall of NECA Events Centre, IKEJA, Lagos.
Later that evening, about 7pm and inside the main bowl of the New Afrika Shrine, the biggest music festival in Africa commences for the the year 2017.
