…As Governor addresses group on peaceful protest in Marina
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) on Saturday charged a group of protesting artistes, models, nollywood stars and other volunteers to, in their private capacities, volunteer information that could help security agencies unravel the issue of the missing 234 Chibok girls.
The Governor, who spoke at the State House, Marina when he attended to the group led by the organizer of The Future Project, Mr. Adebola Williams, which came on a peaceful protest in solidarity with the abducted girls, added that such information, including talking to people who have resided in that part of the country and those who have friends or relations there who could volunteer information on issues such as possible places where people could be kept would go a long way to change the country’s current mood to a positive one. He implored the citizens to send such information to his office or that of the security agencies.
The Governor who believes that the security agencies and the Federal Government are already sharing all of the information at their disposal with the public on the issue of the missing girls, said his state is doing its level best in maintaining security of life and property.
He reiterated that the average resident of the state owe it a duty to refuse to be a voluntary purveyor of panic messages which does not help the present security situation in the country by not sending to their friends.
He said when an individual who gets such message pushes it to a friend instead of the relevant security or government agencies; he is only helping to deepen the feeling of insecurity which does no one any good.
The group had earlier stated that they were at the State House to find out what exactly the Government at the State and Federal levels are doing about the plight of the missing school girls who have been missing for almost a month now.
He added that the protesting groups will not stop the various peaceful mass actions until the missing school girls have been reunited with their families and urged Fashola to assist in putting pressure on the Federal Government to bring back the missing Chibok girls.
Mr. Adebola Williams, the organizer of The Future Project spoke on behalf of the group. Also in attendance were Tiwa Savage, Tonto Dikeh, Elohor Aison, Uche Nnaje among others.
