The effect of pornography addiction increases the chance of couples having a divorce.

In a survey done by sociologists from the University of Okahoma, United States of America, it was revealed that as many as one in three women watches adult content at least once a week. They found that engaging in pornography has affected those in happy marriages and the newly married negatively.

It was revealed that more wives now engage in porn as it is with men, with married women who engage in porn are almost three times more likely to want a divorce.

According to Professor Dr. Samuel Perry, who collected the data as part of the General Social Survey, said, “Beginning pornography use between survey waves nearly doubled one’s likelihood of being divorced by the next survey period, from 6 percent to 11 percent, and nearly tripled it for women, from 6 percent to 16 percent.”

Adding that pornography could rock an otherwise happy marriage to the point of divorce, but it doesn’t seem to make an unhappy marriage any worse than it already is.

Angela Gregory, a psycho-sexual therapist at Nottingham University Hospital, UK, said online pornography is damaging the sexual health of young men. Noting that they are more likely to suffer erectile dysfunction because not being able to be aroused by normal sexual behaviour.
