How were you able to keep your marriage for 30 years, at a time when many marriages are crashing?
It’s by God’s grace, not by my power and I thank God. He has been keeping my home and my marriage. For me, it’s just God.
Looking back 30 years what will you point to as an achievement in marriage?
Many things. I can’t count my blessings. God has been marvelous to me and my family.
Thirty years ago you met Dr. Bisi Olatilo, what attracted you to him?
Thirty years ago I met Adebisi Olatilo not Dr. Bisi Olatilo and I thank God for what He is doing in his life and I thank God for what he is going to do in future. I like him as a man. If you are in spirit and you move with God, He will always direct you. So, the first day I met him, he came asking for somebody where I was working. He came with one of his friends then, that his friend was dating the girl I was working with at Bodija. They asked for the girl and I called her out, they left and the next time they came, that was when we spoke and he keeps coming before he finally hit the nail on the head. I told him to come back for the answer and the rest is history.
The first time you became a mother, how was the feeling?
I felt on top of the world and at the same time, I wasn’t happy because I am an orphan. I lost my mother when I was 40 days old, being the first child and nobody could assist, that was when I felt the importance of my mother. When I got home, nobody to welcome me as a mother and help me with the baby, but I thank God people around me did their bit.
Because of the demands of his own job, how do you cope whenever he is not around?
I thank God for that, He gave me the grace to cope.
When there is disagreement between the two of you, how do you settle?
We disagree and at the same time, agree, there will always be disagreement in marriage but I thank God. He takes charge of that aspect.
Tell us about your parents.
My dad was from Badagry, my mum was from Lagos.
What do you do now?
I am into business.
