‘WE SURPASSED OUR PAST SUCCESSES AT THIS YEAR’S AY LIVE’ – AY

THE 2014 edition of AY Live has come and gone but the host, AY (Ayo Makun) has been celebrating its huge success.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s Associate Editor, UCHE OLEHI asked him how the show went, and some of the challenges he encountered at the well-attended music/comedy show that rocked Lagos on Sunday (April 20, 2014). AY also intimated us with the progress at MVP, his new Lekki-Lagos lounge, bar and restaurant, among others…

NB Plc partnered with the AY Live brand at a propitious time in its history. Looking back at what we achieved together on Easter Sunday, I want to say a heart -felt thanks because Nigeria Breweries Plc through the Maltina brand took the AY Live experience to another level by joining us to share happiness to all that attended the show.

What excited you most about the Easter Sunday, April 20 show?

A lot of aspects of the show were particularly interesting and novel. Firstly, we had a professional wrestling ring in the hall and while the guests were still guessing whether it was part of our stage design, we brought in Mr. Perfect and Ultimate Commander, two world champions and they actually gave the audience a taste of professional wrestling. This was after they did a comic dance around with Mr. Saka and Mr. Ibu to the delight of the audience. We also had revolutionary Cele performance with some new guys and that segment really got the audience cracking. Then we had the Happiness segment where our guests got surprise gifts, courtesy of Maltina.

What are you particularly not so pleased about the show?

I can’t really pinpoint any part of the show I am not pleased about because I enjoyed myself and the feedback I got from my guests was that they also had a lot of fun and that is all that really matters.

Some said the crowd control was not quite okay while others complained they paid and was cut off the show?

The crowd control was much better this year because increased security on our part made sure our paying customers got value for their money.

Would you say the entertainment value of AY Live was above average or just satisfactory?

AY Live entertainment value has always been above satisfactory. And I believe the appreciation we have gotten throughout the social media platforms and even mainstream media will attest to the fact that the show was spot on.

How would you resolve these issues in AY Live 2015?

Our ambition is to always surpass our past successes.  So, I can promise you that 2015 will be even better.

Was the show another commercially viable one like the previous events?

I give thanks to God for the success we achieved. We can do better and we will do better.

You should be at rest now after all the stress that came with show?

Planning AY Live always takes a lot out of me and I have been taking it easy spending time with family.

We thought MVP Lounge would have been opened by now?

MVP Lounge is in its final phase. We are just crossing the Ts and very soon this prestigious lounge will be opened to Nigerians.

Any issues with your co-investors?

There are no issues with the investors. We are all on the same page and working together to package a world class lounge.

So when are you kicking it off?

That will be announced soon but be rest assured we are opening soon.

What do you say to your fans who want MVP to join the growing number of fun spots on the Island?

To my fans I enjoin you to be ready for unrestricted fun and entertainment.

What else are you working on outside MVP Lounge?

I am still working on my movie, 30 Days in Atlanta. That will also be released within the third quarter of this year.
