MANAGING Director/CEO, MVP Lagos, Ayo Makun (AY) is silent on the fate of the troubled lounge.
Efforts to speak with AY on the state of the multi-million naira fun rendevouz, throughout the week, didn’t yield any fruit. Even ENCOMIUM Weekly’s SMS on Monday, June 22, 2015 was not replied by the showbiz mogul.
“Good morning, AY. Has MVP, Lagos finally reopened? If not, when are we looking at?” our SMS read.
AY confirmed the closure of MVP Lagos, one of the nation’s leading lounges in an exclusive chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly about a month ago.
The reasons for the closure, the showbiz entrepreneur said, are to renovate and reposition it for better services.
“It’s not as if MVP has closed down business for good, but we want to bring in fresh hands to run the place. For us, it’s better to close our doors for a while and re-strategise than to get things wrong. We need better and able hands to run the lounge.”
Insisting MVP has no financial crisis, AY debunked the allegation, boasting they have at least a five-year lease covering the property valued at over N1 billion!
There were fears back then that the nine-month old exclusive relaxation spot might have run into deep financial crisis, following low patronage and inexperience of the team running the multi-million naira joint venture.
But the MD/CEO of MVP had clarified all is well with the business, if not for the need for restructuring of the lounge. He also confided in us he was inviting a professional hand from the Arabian gulf to re-engineer MVP.
MVP Lagos was officially opened on Friday, September 26, 2014, with loads of top celebrities in attendance.
The luxury and premium class club, lounge and restaurant located in the heart of Lekki Phase 1, Lagos (MVP Lagos is on Durosimi-Etti Drive, Off Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos).
Equipped with the finest sound and lighting system that raise the bar for a world-class clubbing experience in Lagos, it is in about 5,000 square foot space.
MVP also has unique units, namely, the Restaurant, Game Room, VIP gold room and the VVIP Diamond Room. The VVIP diamond room comes with personal access passes and exclusive tables where guests enjoy bespoke services from their personal hostesses, who provide them with hospitality assistance that take care of their every need at MVP.
But tantalizing fun seekers with these unique offerings, MVP’s fortunes dwindled in just eight months after it commenced business, giving its investors no other option than to shut down the top-notch lounge to enable them restructure it for better services and profitability.
However, the management is yet to explain what’s going on there at the moment. And when MVP, Lagos, would resume business.
